is there a guide/faq out there as to how to get started setting up your own site, starting with picking a hosting company and registering a domain name?

I went with Yahoo-geocities.

But I am beginning to see the limitations in that. If I understand them correctly, no ASP programming.

Is yw hosting still available?

Yahoo-geocities web sites had a feature to allow MS FrontPage editting.

Does yw hosting lend itself to FrontPage or DreamWeaver?

At this point in time, no. I mean I probably could but not without risk of overselling. Probably sometime next year I would imagine though. I'm still trying to negotiate a new contract...
