My mom used to beat our asses. Hold your hands out and smack them thangs with a wooden spoon. Stand in the corner with your hands up until you BEG to take your hands down. But you couldn't put your hands down while you were begging or you would get it on the ass.

My dad barely spanked us but they never argued about it. My husband and I are diff story. He likes to take it to that ass. He says that's how Black folks do. He also thinks that if I did it like my mom's that the kids would be more respectful. I don't know. I'm a wuss. I let him spank them.

Ass whooping? Well, the backscratcher had more uses than you'd think. A wooden hanger was much better than a wire hanger of which I got both. The wire one of course was used more. There were also these large 3" wide or so sticks that were used along the fence. My grandma would use that on me too.

My dad would "talk with the belt" as he says, which is beat me by syllables. Damn that hurt! *L*

But those were just the icing on the cake. When I was much younger and went to church my grandmother brought a needle and I can't remember how old I was when she STOPPED using it on me. I answered back a lot so she'd get either fresh ginger or chili pepper from the garden outside and put that in my mouth. I think that is why today I cannot stand mild spicy foods. Talk about traumatized. Oh, but I still talk back as an adult. :D

well, as an outside viewer, my mom used to take this inch thick cutting board to me, but it was rarely on my ass. but dayum, did it hurt when she did whoop my ass. also worked good at knocking me the fook out.

When we were kids there was a company that made little orange racetracks for hot wheels cars. These came in sets of strips, so you could design your own racecourse by assembling the track. I imagine if you used one of those long straight away pices, that had enough plasticity to it to bend, then it would hurt a whole lot, especially on bare ass!

I'd think that would be a personal parenting decision. True I know that a lot of Asians use the wooden spoon on ass or rulers on knuckles, or kneeling on a grate while holding big cans, etc. etc., but I also know Asian families that don't spank at all and have children that are paragons of good behaviour.

well out there in thailand it was a bit similar, usually the spoon was metal thoug, cause she was usually cooking when we did sumthin bad that we thought she was to busy 2 notice lol.But if it was severe we had the spoon thing and then we had 2 kneel in the corner on rice for a looong time., did it hurt? Mostly at first butb yu get used to it, but mom knows and changes the type of rice we were usually kneeling on, , first offences were uncooked kao-kneeo (sticky rice) then youd get the upgrade to kao jao(regular rice) cause it was harder ha ha ha.

I'm glad those times are over. I know self defense now. I just get yelled at once or twice. But then, those past experiences shape your life. Im glad i learned discipline so early tho. prevents anything stupid in the future.
