my old roommate is going to lead one of the workshops there. its titled "asians in the south" or something. if u decide to go to that workshop, look for alan huang. a couple of other auburn friends are going there too sponsored by the school.

Yeah... it's expensive... we're going to be requesting money from the student finance commission... and it may still be too much for us to go. :(

if money is a problem, u guys definitely want to check out on campus organizations for money. the diversity center at auburn gave enough money to the asian association for 5 ppl to fly to washington and attend. if u guys need a written reason, just ask me. i'll get a copy of what my roommate wrote to the diversity center.

I'm gonna be going to. My employer (the organization, rather than any person) will pay my costs. :)

ECASU was good. The weather was ugly. :( The community spirit in Georgetown-- well, what would that be when there are entire sidewalks that haven't had ANY of their snow shoveled away?

the workshops i took were:
-What's your last name?!? Adoptees in the Asian American Community
-APA's in the hip hop scene and...
-Organizing for AA arts...
anyways, i did some networking within the workshops.. and in the first one i attended.. one of the facilitators had me fill out a survey for transracial adoptees... a survey that is lead by three different professors.. and one of the professors actually teaches at my school... a person who is also a korean american female.. and who is also a transracial adoptee herself... so i plan on getting in touch with her on my campus...

I had great fun... met up with FlareZz but didn't get a chance to hang with SWK or tapestrybabe (forgot to print out contact info before I left)... The snow was stupid. Driving down we saw people shoveling the snow with bulldozers... (yeah that's gonna work)
I went to:
GLBT panel discussion
Substance Abuse and Mental Health in AA community
Asian American Men (asexualized? desexualized?)
The Showcase was friggin' awesome. I worship the ground Organic Thought walks on... The party wasn't so bad, 'cept that it was ECASU and a national frat thing and open to the public so it was a tad crowded.

OH man, i got to meet with the professor today...
she's way cool... and my bad.. she's actually a CHInese American adoptee... but i'm glad i got to meet with her just the same... i'm gonna be helping out doing some research for her.. when it comes to dealing with korean adoptees.. and also, she gave me some info about a summer job... working as a camp counselor... working at this korean adoptee camp for children...

hey it was fun huh, cept i got stuck in a DC club and i couldn't get back home because the hotel maxxed out my debit card....
Other than that it was great, cept we missed the flight back cuz some ppl couldn't get ready in time!!
And i had to sleep in the airport...
And if i could have gone to some cool workshops it would have been fun, but instead i was stuck in coaltion building and networking blah blah blah....snooooooooze,
dont get me wrong, it was important, but sooooooo boring.........

No, her actual name is Dr. Amanda Baden... and this is her website.. http://www.transracialadoption.net/
she's actually an Assistant Professor at Montclair State Univ... and i cant believe i actually got to meet her the other day.. apparently shes a really prominant person... when it comes to doing research about transracial adoptees... and me, i'm looking forward to working with her... when it comes to assisting her with her continued research...
