Didn't see all the pictures, but it looked like they were grave robbers. Please correct me. Besides, I can't read chinese characters, so can somebody fill me in.

Oh shit! They're dismembering the body! Then they fed it to vultures!

well, if you wanna try digging a hole to bury the guy in frozen ground up in the mountains, pick up a shovel, you're welcome to try.

Is that why they were doing it, because the ground is frozen?

*I think I'm going to be sick* :gross:

Well, yeah. That's what they do. It's all part of the karmic cycle, yo.

Many Native American tribes had similar practices, leaving their dead out on raised platforms to be exposed to the elements.

Makes perfect sense to me. I dunno why people gotta be buried in the ground.

No big deal. different culture, different ways of honoring the dead. Heck some culture eat part of the dead to keep their essence with them.

On the other hand. i want to be cremated. :)

Sky burial is when a body is left to be eaten by vultures and other carrion-eating birds (sorry, can't remember the official name). The body is being hacked into pieces to help the process along.

I wanna be baked into bread, so I can tell all my friends and relatives to "Eat me!"

Man, that was pretty vivid... I think I'd like to be cremated too, why waste valuable living space on the dead?

The Horse Thief, a 1986 Chinese film set in Tibet and directed by Tian Zhuangzhuang, opens with the scene of a "sky burial." It's a very intriguing film and well worth seeing. The Chinese authorities eventually banned The Horse Thief on the grounds that it made the Tibetans look backward and primitive, but others believe that it was because the fillm had undertones of Tibetan nationalism. Tian is best known for directing The Blue Kite.
