here's a more concise article by my favorite hardware guy. he pulls no punches and is unbiased.

Ha, I thought I was the only one who used that term. For real, NVIDIOTS are like the XBox fanboys (note: I'm not singling out all XBox owners, just the hopeless fanboys that crow on constantly how it can do this and that...) of the Computer gaming world, ranting and raving like Nvidia chips are the best thing since Oxygen and brag about how their card does 100000000000 polygons/sec. or some shit like that.
Um, earth to tards... they're GRAPHICS CARDS! That's it.
I'm really glad ATI got their asses back into gear and are making this graphics game at least a 2-horse race. It's like w/ AMD & Intel. Cuz God only knows that w/o ATI keeping Nvidia honest, we'd be paying $600 for some Geforce 3 MX shit.

well, the only problem is ati might not be so gracious with their price cuts, as they were rumored to be doing before these fx tests. -_- so no 9700 pro for current 9500 pro price.
oh well, next qtr i'll find a water cooled 9500 pro in my system. retire my 128mb 8500 to Cindy's dually, and then retire her current gf3 ti500 to my htpc.

or u could retire it to me. currently geforce2 MX 400 w/ anomalies showing in games.

apparently what happened to 3dfx is now happening to nvidia.
they get lazy. and another company comes up and smacks em when they get too cocky.
i wish there was more competition though
where is Trident and Matrox?

matrox did it's parhelia...they went after the engineering and corporate people.
they've been bitchslapping ati and nvida in that for years.
trident...who cares...it was garbage anyway
nvidia won't die, but i bet they'll learn an expensive lesson.

ati still sucks ass, unstable drivers.
I have a 9700 at work and I want to throw in the garbage.

i don't think it was entirely due to cockiness. i've read that both ati and nvidia took a gamble. ati stayed w/ the .15 micron fabs cuz they hoped it the result would still be fast. nvidia took a gamble going to .13 and lost when the fabs couldn't produce. ati just happened to bet correctly.

so....about giving me that 9700.....
if ur using ati's drivers...yes, it's garbage. if you're using tweaked drivers like, omega's version of the cat 3's...it's niceness...

Check it out, it looks like the GeForce FX may be shitcanned!

OK, now let's see the millions of NVIDIOTS say this is a good thing! Sure it's an underpowered, noisy POS, but this is a huge blow for Nvidia to spend one year and a half on their so-called Radeon killer only to have it shitcanned.

ouch. thats gonna hurt bigtime. i don't see why u hate nvidia so much tho. they're just a business. either they make a good product or they don't. i'd prefer if both ati AND nvidia make good cards and stay in business so they'll be some competition.

i know it won't be shitcanned, but meet the next generation of radeon 8500's...nvidia style. ati got bitchslapped when they took too long with their gf3 killer the radeon 8500, and got bitchslapped by nvidia. however, ati still made tons off of their 8500's because it became the budget du'jour card. now, nvidia will probably still sell enough to break even or a little profit, considering the amount of time that went into this, and the dbl pay they're probably giving their engineers to start making their new next gen card faster.
now nvidia's problem will be to try and sell their noisy ass card at a discount price. ati had the benefit of not having a card take up a pci AND produce hella noise with their 8500...

yeah, it's like AMD vs. Intel. Regardless about what one thinks of AMD's quality. (Some of the tales I've heard are just complete horse shit!), without AMD in the game, we'd be using $1000-per-chip P IIIs, and that's the fucking truth. AMD made CPU prices reasonable.

you gotta admit, even if you think highly of p4's (i don't) the price to performance ratio from amd rolls intel and smokes it.

true. my last rig was a Duron, and my current one is an XP 1800. XP 2000s sellin for $70 on Pricewatch. That's ridiculous. If you told someone that prices would be that low even last year, you'd be b!tchslapped for stupidity, but now it's reality! Competition ultimately benefits the consumer.

so do steppings! at least for overclockers...
i just picked up two 2100+ aiuhb 0250 tbred b's i'm going to try and get 2.4ghz out of.
now i just need an AT psu and give these little cpu's a defribulating ^_~ to force a 16x multi (as dual amd's are limited to 150fsb *except the iwill mpx2 hoever it has it's own major issues*) just so it's clear for those intel people going, wah? only 2.4ghz? the tbred equivalent of 2.4ghz is paramount to a barton 2.2ghz. those are both amd processors from succesive lines. the rating of which would be equivalent to about 3ghz intel p4. except this is dual, so *drools* twice the work of an uberfast system.

damn, that's a serious system. How much did you pay for the CPUs?
I bet it was less than one overpriced ass P4 3GHz.
himura-dono
02-10-2003, 05:56 PM
95 each ^_~
the tbred b's cost more than their palomino or tbred a counter parts, but they run like a dream.
