What snack foods are your favorite when you go out drinking? If the point is to get hammered I like vinegary food like jelly fish or squid salad.

I like the American fatty crap. Chicken wings, burgers, peanuts, cheese sticks, potato boats....yum. I'll only consider having beer with I'm having pizza.

Well, when my parents have friends over for drinks, they always serve mixed nuts and Japanese rice crackers, or the dried cuttlfish/squid.

OMG!?!?

I was doing my "hollywood" phase, and there was a point that i couldn't stand the free nuts that they have at the bars . . . (haha! think broke ass chick)

i think i miss the whole cheese plate w/ wines . . . and if i'm in BKK - chugging down w/ the girls, then its all of the thai spicy salads! makes me HAPPEEEEYYYY!?!?

I like to drink my alcohol on an empty stomach. Why spend more on alcohol to get hammered when its cheaper to do it while hungry? Also, no money on food...bigtime money saver there.

Iris, you rock. That's what I'm talking about. Everything you said, and jalapeno poppers. I'm a sucka for those things.

does anyone like dukboki with beer? that's my current favorite.

i found a recipe, but i'm never going to make it - i like it the way the restaurants make it. esp. rosen. on western and 4th (ktown, la). i made moschikat eat it with me. oh and blue_hoodie too.

Duk Boki

Ingredients

1/2 lb. Duk (Cylindrical rice cake)
1 tbsp Gochujang
1/2 tbsp miso
1 garlic clove, chopped finely
1/2 tsp red pepper powder
1 stalk bok choy
1 scallion chopped
Sesame oil
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tsp sugar
1/4 lb beef chuck
1 Carrot, sliced
Black pepper
1. Soak Duk in cold water for 10 minutes

2. Cut beef into 1/4 inch thick 1" x 2" slices.

3. Mix beef, black pepper, garlic and 1 tsp sesame oil in bowl

4. Brown beef in a frying pan

5. Add in carrots, scallions, bok choy and duk, mix and cover and steam for about 10 minutes or until vegetables are soft.

6. Mix the gochujang, hot pepper, miso, sugar and 2 tsps water in bowl until blended.

7. Add mixture to the pan and stir. Add broth as needed if sauce becomes too thick.

8. Ready to serve when the duk is soft!

Um...ginger ale? Goes well with whiskey?

it depends on the place and what i am drinking.

if i am at a standard korean hof, and drinking a light lager or other beer, i like dried stuff (squid, fish) and maybe some tongdalk (whole fried chicken, cut-up), and maybe some noodles if I am kinda hungry. then i just keep the beers coming over some fruit.

if i am having cocktails, i will just drink the cocktails. maybe some fruit.

if i am at an american bar, i like spicy buffalo wings and crispy fries.

hot dogs are pretty tasty when you're faded... if you've ever been in berkeley on a friday/sat night at around 2am, you'll know what i'm talking about. :D

oh, and for some reason breakfast food is especially good. some eggs and sausage and potatoes hit the spot.

Fuck yeah! Good call.

One time, I was at Top Dog after a bender and me and my buddies were waiting for our sausages to come off the grill.

In walks a yuppie-ish-looking lady who asks the grill man "What kind of cheese do you guys serve."

I turned to her and told her "you can't put cheese on a hot dog!"

"Why not?"

"Because you can't. It's wrong."

"Well I like cheese on hot dogs."

"Fine. But it's still wrong."

This is what I believe, but I was being tongue-in-cheek. I probably didn't do a good job of conveying the fact that I was lightly fucking with her, because she turned away from me with a huff and asked the grill man "So...what kind of cheese do you guys serve?"

And he replied "we don't put cheese on hot dogs."

Fuck yeah. Tell it, brother-man.

For post-bender food, I like to go with either hot dogs/pizza or Asian noodle soups. I most prefer the latter, which makes binging in Hong Kong such a fun thing to do. Actually HK is good for whatever. One time, I sobered up over a 4AM shawarma.

it's a toss up for me between the calabrese and the lemon chicken. deli mustard + onions + sauerkraut = sausage goodness.

i'll have to try that hot link + hot mustard combo... see if i can handle the heat.

edit: and you can't put cheese on hot dogs! you just can't!

I've been craving bar wings. This place i watch UVa games has a 20 cent wing special that I'll be sure to take advantage of next time I'm there.

UVa-FSU this weekend baby! We're gonna kick some ass and I'm getting toasted and eating wings!
