If you guys could pick your all-time top 10 favorite video games (from any system, console, computer, arcade, etc.) what would they be? I am not much into computer games and I just play consoles from time to time expect for back then I used to live and breathe Nintendo...anyways here they are...in no particular order. BTW sorry if this question has already been asked earlier in the history of this forum.

1. Super Mario Bros. All Stars (SNES) (to save space so I don't hafta waste three entries for SMB1,2,3, etc.)
2. Street Fighter 2 series (Arcade/Capcom and all the home versions)(Super, Super Turbo, Alpha, Vs. Marvel series, etc.)
3. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (NES) (nothing beats Macho Man and his animated titties)
4. Contra III: Alien Wars (SNES)
5. Streets of Rage 2 (Sega Genesis)
6. Radiant Silvergun (Sega Saturn)
7. Zelda series (NES, SNES, N64, Gameboy...no further explanation needed, but the only one I ever beat was Zelda: Ocarina of Time b/c I'm lame)
8. Goldeneye (N64)
9. Banjo Kazooie (N64)
10. Double Dragon 2: The Revenge (SNES)

I know there are a ton of people out there who love those sim/strategy war type games plus RPG but I just never really got into those b/c I was too lazy or impatient to learn how to play them. Also I really miss all those old games that they just never really seem to make anymore these days. A lot of the stuff today (at least console, I don't know much about PC) like Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and Xbox output is impressive to say the least but after the shock and novelty wears off it's just not as substantial as what I am used to liking I guess. Whatever happened to those days where getting a code was actually a big deal b/c you had to hear it from word of mouth from your friends, whereas now in order to get an extra 30 lives you just need to look it up on the net and that's all you hafta do...

Oh yea Tecmo Bowl haha. My friend and I got majorly busted back in middle school for staying in our hotel rooms to play that game while we went down to Oregon with the rest of the school orchestra and band for some competition or something. Also my first experience with scrambled porn but it was not my idea.

so are cs, warcraft,

My theory is that these two games require two fundamentally different ways of thinking... and therefore you cannot be good at both... anyone agree or disagree?

I'm ok at CS but I CANNOT play warcraft for the life of me.

I submit Wasteland, Fallout, and Fallout 2 as three of the best games of all time.

i disagree! i think you can be good at both...if youre skilled enough and spend enough time practicing. im fair at both games, not spectacular.

fallout, baldurs gate, super mario bros, street fighter 2, gta3, planescape:torment, doom, civilization, master of orion, starcraft.

as for being good at a shooter and rts at the same time, its possible. but being professional level good at both games would be something of an achievement.

it just depends how much time you dedicate to either game

Erendani
01-28-2003, 10:55 AM
My main problem is with "situational awareness" ... I am hyper aware of everything going on at a certain specific locale... great for first person shooters. But with games like warcraft or starcraft, if you focus too much one one specific location, you lose.

For example, in Starcraft I like to watch battles as they progress, but then I will forget to click back to base to make more units, or some other junk like that. What fun are battles if you don't get to watch 'em...

By the way, what do you guys consider to be a "good" kill ratio in CS?

Ya, I usually suck at video games unless I spent mucho amounts of time on them....i.e. the Super Mario Bros. series and Street Fighter. I have yet to meet an Asian guy who doesn't know how to perform the Hadoken motion.
