Can anyone help a brother out? :)

I need to make a reservation soon (if it isn't too late already).

A friend of mine owns the Dragonfly restuarant. It's pretty good, it's like a fusion type food restuarant and you'll find every thing from chow fun to pad thai on the menu. It's got a decent atmosphere and you can opt to sit on couches that face each other if you like that better then a table. On weekends after dinner hours, you can hang and the bar scene gets rockin a bit, usually they'll have a DJ come in. I'll give him a buzz to see what they have going on for valentines day.

Check it out first and if you think it's your speed let me know. I'll call my boy, see if he can make it extra special for you and your gal. If it's not your scence or you want something a little fancier, that's cool too, believe me I'm not gonna be offended :D

Angelo Maxi's is an awesome place. Pricey and delicious, but also slightly loud due to the conversations of everyone else. But because of this, they might still have reservations left for Valentine's Day (which is why I'm assuming you're asking?) It's a stretch since they're always booked on the weekends, but you can try. Dark wood panelling like a gentleman's club, generous portions, good wine list, elegant atmosphere.

Or else choose a place in little Italy.
L'Orange Bleue is extremely fabulous. I love that place. It's pretty expensive, but the French food they serve is awesome. Spring for dessert because it's worth it. Dark lighting - by candles, modern art deco ambience. Low house fused with blues music. Great alcohol list. Very friendly staff.

Sal Anthony and Benito One are good choices with Sal's being the better of the two. Less expensive, good hearty Italian. Sidewalk tables but I doubt it will be warm enough. Typical New York Little Italy places, meaning white linen table clothes and candles.

Caffe Napoli I love but it's tiny that means reservations are gonna be tough. Inimate setting and good mood music. But the tables are pretty close together, which does make a great scene for romantic moments.

Notice I'm mentioning Little Italy places. It's cuz I like the mood Little Italy brings out and I don't think you can get reservations this late at top rep. restaurants, but you can always try!

Oh my gosh, I looooove that place! It's pretty inexpensive too LW. The most fabulous thing about it are the leather couches, but they're made for parties of four or more so if you want initimate table for two, you can't sit there.

As a girl, I don't know if I'd want to be taken there for Valentine's Day, but I don't know S's preference. She might like it. It reminds me too much of a Chinese restaurant scene even though it rocks my world. I eat lunch there all the time. That's also probably why. I associate it with work. It's probably pretty cool at night. I just always see it in the day time with the coporate peeps.

You'll never get it, but on the freaked out chance you get lucky ---> Aquavit
The Scene
The magnificent main dining room--downstairs, and next to a towering waterfall--is carved from a garden behind what was once John D. Rockefeller's townhouse. Around the cascading water are potted trees and bold watercolors that lend a cool outdoor feel. Service is crisp and polished.

The Food
Chef Marcus Samuelsson, an Ethiopian native raised in Sweden, turns out some of the most exquisite food in town. Samuelsson has worked in the kitchens of France, South America and Switzerland, and these influences are obvious: a plate of pickled herrings served ten different ways; grilled duck breast with foie gras and grapes; rosy, tender medallions of Arctic venison edged with that slight musky taste of real game. Even a chicken breast in a subtly spicy curry broth-- available on the modesty priced pre-theater menu--is memorable. Desserts are quiet show-stoppers. (CS)

It's hella hard to get reservations for a normal weekend. You have to queue up even then, so it's doubtful they'll have openings for V-Day, but if you never try....

Wish ya luck.

See what a bud I am. I even looked up the address and phone number for you.

Most of those are on the Upper East side.

The places are moderately priced to kinda expensive. Make your woman pay YWMWS!

Heheh better you than me....I'm on call that day on the unit....woohoo! I stopped doing romantic dinners a long time ago. Thank God!

Edit: Oh yeah make your reservations early.

I recommend Della Femina and Brasserie Julien

Oh shiznit!! I forgot my uncle Johnny K (sounds like a triad name yeah....) owns Mr. K's Restaurant. It's 5-star diamond award winning restaurant, with every president from Ford to both Bushs have eaten there. Tom Cruise, Governor Pataki, Giuliani, and others consider it a favorite.

It's got tiny alcoves with comfy and large chairs. Beautiful ambience and wonderful, wonderful service. It's incredibly pricey at nearly $250 for a couple, but they do have a prix fixe dinner and I can get you a huge discount if you want to go there. It's got a soaring high beamed ceiling, silk-covered chairs. Each woman is brought an orchid from a private greenhouse and each couple can have their photo taken and framed. Try the mouth-watering desserts. I love the chilled fruits with chambord liquor. If you want to go there, give me a call and for you, I can do some arm twisting.

"In the vanguard of the New York City renaissance, Johnny Kao, a celebrated Washington restaurateur, has transformed a corner of New York that was once a bank into an ultra romantic, art deco, jewel-like setting, with outstanding, four-star, eclectic Chinese cuisine, and peerless service."
--Daily News

"At Mr. K's. the waiters plump the pillows and the patrons, and famous names are embossed on chopsticks in display cases."
--The New York Times, Diners Journal

Go to where the discounts take you, Lethal! It's just a meal.

Oh yeah, if you're in the neighborhood of 69th and York that night for dinner...swing by the hospital and bring me a doggy bag!

Or you could go back to the Korean BBQ thread and find some places outta there

Man I'm I'm HUNGRY! Going to go make some ramen noodles, my roomate at all my frozen buns. See what happens when you indoctrate a Jewish kid to the wonders of frozen asian food? They can't get enough. Damn him.

Yeah! The only reason we fall for this valentines crap is cause Hallmark has brainwashed us all. Stoopid holiday. Hey isn't Chinese New Years coming up soon? Now that's a fun holiday.
