Spundae/Giant LA

Looks like Giant will be opening back up at the Palace in Hollywood. Avalon in Boston bought the Palace is going to do some major facelifts inside, which is wonderful, cus that place seriously sucks. Anyway, does anyone here go to either Spundae@Circus or the old Giant events? I also like going to Pure@Sugar on Saturday nights when I'm not up for Spundae. Here are some upcoming highlights:

Jan 17: Deep Dish @ the Palace - Giant 3yr Anniversary

Feb 1: Lee Burridge & DJ Three - Spundae@Circus

I think I'm hitting up both events, DD will certainly be fun. :)

i used to go to giant when it was at circus. then spundae. but i thought there was a drug bust there not long ago and they shut the place down.

been to giant at palace once. crowded.

Is this the same Circus where John Digweed did an 11-hour set on New Year's Eve (well, technically New Years Day) ?
And where Armin van Buuren + Ferry Corsten played on New Year's Day?

In any case, did anyone go to either event?

Spundae is still going strong, although I'm starting to feel that there is more of the image-conscious, Hollywood crowd coming in (muscleheads & balloon-breasted women). There was a drug bust, but it seems to have cleared up.

Pure@Sugar is a great club. It's sorta the Saturday night alternative for Spundae for those who prefer smaller environments. I think Sugar can only hold about 300 people at most. But the DJ talent is good. My friend Josh Abrams is the resident on Saturday nights.

Circus is where AVB & Ferry Corsten played on New Year's Day. Digweed played for Liquified, which was held at the Palace.

I didn't go to either event. I was at Giant Village watching Mark Farina do his thing. :D

I went to Red this past weekend. I haven't been to spundae or giant since they both moved.

Anyone here in LA ever been to the Batcave? Now that is the most underground, ghetto party/club I have ever been too. The bouncers were dealing as well as the ppl at the water booth.

Circus & the Arena are used in a lot of movie club scenes.

And I don't know how to compare Sugar to Soju Bar...I've never been to Soju. Sugar has a fun crowd that is there for the music, since the bar (last I checked) doesn't serve hard liquor, just wine & beers. I haven't been there in a few months, so things might've changed for them.

Sugar's in my hood...Santa Monica off Lincoln Blvd. on Broadway. The fact that they don't serve hard alcohol is kinda disturbing but they've got real dancing and music. It's cool.
