Falcons at Eagles: Vick v. McNabb. The Eagles defense will be better than anything Vick has seen this year aside from TB's and the Bucs put a hurting on Vick twice. The Falcons have no other legitimate weapons on offense. McNabb comes back from a broken ankle, but can he be effective? The Atlanta defense is bad, ranked in the mid 20s. It won't matter how good McNabb is because the Eagles defense will shut down the Falcons and you can't win if you can't score.

Eagles in a rout.

49ers at Bucs: The Battle of the Bay Areas. The Niners are coming off a tremendous comeback victory against the Giants while the Bucs rested. SF has to be exhausted and probably suffers an emotional letdown aganst the NFL's best defense. Brad Johnson is coming off an injury, but as long as he can avoid mistakes, TB can pull this one out at home.

Bucs in a close one.

Steelers at Titans: Rematch. Tennessee beat Pittsburgh earlier this year 31-23. Like SF, Pittsburgh is coming off a huge comeback. Tommy Maddox is also the comeback player of the year in the NFL. Titans QB Steve McNair is also hurting from various injuries suffered this year and benefitted greatly from the week of rest. The Titans are a more rested team at this point and the Steelers also probably will show signs of a letdown after last week.

Titans in a close, low scoring game.

Jets at Raiders Revenge? The Jets are playing quite possibly the best football in the NFL right now while the Raiders were one of the best teams throughout the regular season. Oakland QB Rich Gannon was named NFL MVP this year while Jets QB Chad Pennington is seen as a rising young QB. While the Raider offense was great most of the year, the defense, especially the secondary is hurting badly. Oakland was desperate enough for help at CB that they tried to lure Deion Sanders out of retirement to play. Pennington can probably pass well against the Raiders.

Jets in a shootout.

I missed the whole NFL season bro.

It's so sad. I came to Japan right before PRESEASON started and missed the whole thing. Japanese people don't like Football.

Tho I would have never discovered soccer had I not come here.

NFC CHAMPIONSIP - Eagles vs Bucs
AFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Titans vs Raiders

Superbowl - Titans vs Eagles Titans win 35 - 28

Won't it be great to have the Raiders vs the Bucs in the superbowl? Gruden's new team vs Gruden's old team. haha.

Okay, sorry I've neglected this forum (since it really is my favorite at heart) but my love for football has flagged, as the regular season (and the Cowboys') has ended, along with SC's.

Vick vs. the Fans-Who-Applauded-Michael-Irvin's-Career-Ending-Injury
I agree...Eagles should rout the Falcons, depending on how well Vick handles that damn Philly crowd. If he can keep his composure and self-confidence the way he did against GB, they might have a chance, because 1) the Eagles defense is very good in a league with crappy D; 2) Duce Staley; and is scientifically proven that no team from Philly can win a championship.
Falcons 88, Eagles, 0.

Titans vs. Steelers:
Who cares? Although Maddox has injected some life into Pitt, they both have some boring-ass offense going on. It's all about field possession.
Steelers 42, Titans 41.

The Sharpie vs. The Mouth:
Are the Bucs finally gonna do it this year or what? Owens is gonna have to show up this game or the Bucs D is going to eat Garcia, Hearst, Barlow, et al. And also cuz I hate the Niners.
Bucs 28, Niners 0.

'Da Raiders v. JETS JETS JETS
Best game of the weekend, I think, hands down (cuz I don't wanna watch the Niners or Eagles or die of boredom during Pitt-Houston). I hadn't watched the Jets all season and then saw them steamroll the surprisingly bad Colts last week -- I repeat, the Colts suck right now. If the Raiders can get as fired up as they were against Denver a couple of weeks ago, the Ray-daz are going to kick ass.

Why the hell would you be anywhere around a bouncing ball when it's been punted to you...? I hate seeing that play and yet it happens over and over again in the NFL, some idiot thinking he can make a play by picking it up and running for a score. blah.

And Christ...Vick doesn't have a rifle on his right arm, he's got a bazooka. I can't believe how effortlessly he fires lasers down the field. You figure most of us can heave a ball 30 - 40 yards, maybe. This guy can throw over 100 yards.

Hmm...if he has a bazooka for a right arm, I wonder how strong his left arm is since he's left handed :P

Eagles won 20-6.

So far 2 for 2 this weekend.

Eagles didn't blow out the Falcons, but they still won big. Titans-Steelers was close, but not low scoring. I still picked the winners though. :)

Sunday: Jets at Raiders and 49ers at Bucs.

I got the games mixed up. I thought Tennessee/Steelers was gonna be the snoozer and the Atlanta/Philly game the score fest. Philly didn't look that impressive. Maybe it was because McNabb was rusty. I still think the Bucs/49ers winner will go to the SuperBowl.

lethal
01-11-2003, 09:01 PM
Nah, the Eagles will take out the SF-TB winner. Philly's playing at home and beat both of those teams handily this year already. Plus, you know how the Bucs have never won when the temperature's below freezing (which it will be in Philly next week).

Eagles offense didn't look that great, but the defense looked really good when it had to. Atlanta scored no TDs, the 7th team Philly's done that to this year.

Bah, potato, po-tat-to!

And while the Eagles didn't look that impressive, McNabb is still a stud. I'd be very scared of the Eagles or Falcons if either team got a real receiver.

I saw the hold and the flag fly before he took off, so I knew it was coming back.

Dawkins is a missle back there though. I bet Vick's never been hit that hard before.

Because they're trying to be cute. I hate it when teams decide to use their most potent weapons as decoys. They went back to their bread and butter on the opening drive of the second half and drove effortlessly down the field. Sebastian! christ.

Raiders pick off Pennington. At 10-10 in the 3rd quarter, this isn't the shootout I forecasted.

Nevermind. TD Gannon to Porter! 17-10 Raiders!

lethal

Now that the Raiders stopped trying to run, its a lot better for their O.

I thought the Raiders secondary was going to be a liability, but it turns out the Jets is worse.

17-10 Raiders end of 3 with the Raiders on the Jets 10.

Wow, you think the Titans are gonna be able to go into Oakland and win? I'm not a Raiders fan or anything, but I don't think there's any team that can stop the silver and black but themselves. They're just loaded on offense with arguably the best passing attack and short yardage ground game in the NFL. They can be run on, however, but Eddie George is a wuss in big games.

If the Bucs had a better running back I'd say they were a shoo-in to beat the Eagles, but it remains to be seen...
