anyone in here graduated top ten? was valedictorian?
i think that's what every asian parent wants, no [i:9900b37802]expects, [/i:9900b37802]their kid to be.
so i'm sitting here looking at what it will take me to get order of the coif. and that makes me pretty sad.

i doubt ill finish that high up there....competition at my school is cut-throat. while education is important to me, im not the type of person to regularly pull all nighters, put 20+ hours into a project or even start waaaay in advance. im lazy and a procrastinator.

same here, as long as i'm passing with some sort of descent grade...and dont get yelled at i'm fine with it, if i graduated number 1, i'd have to go against someone who scored perfect on their sat.......

but hasn't there ever been a time like, say, high school graduation, where one of your asian classmates is valedictorian (it seems at least one asian always gets it) and you thought to yourself, "she must be making her parents really proud. i suck."
okay, i hope i'm not bringing anyone down when i say this. but that's definitely how i felt at my high school graduation.
for all of you going on to college--i say shoot for graduating with honors. it's worth the work to make them proud.

ahh... well this year, we didn't have an asian valedictorian. the top ten ranked students were all nominated for valedictorian, but funny thing is, the list wasn't based on weighted gpas, which would of course get rid of the students taking easy courses they knew they could get a's in. yeah, i'm a little bitter about that. but :D . it'd have been real nice to graduate within the top ten, but oh well, it's high school.

yeah i think valedictorians should be considered according to weighted gpas. our school doesnt and half of them are kids that took easy classes. while its good that they got As i think credit should be given to the kids that worked their asses off for the title.

I don't care what my ranking was in hs cuz we didnt rank or calculate GPAs. We just had our number grades and unless we were idiotically honest or really sucked, we all wrote "top 10th" on our college aps.
But since I went to one of the best lesser-known high schools EVER, it just helped being there.
and the SAT helped too...helps me to this day in fact, when I'm a master's student. :)
