So I was up a bit late last night watching tv and I flipped by a tv talk show on abc. It was one of those retarded Oprah style shows all about feelings and sensitivity. The hosts were this white and black guy who looked like a bunch of fags... anyways...

They had this asian american actress on with them, don't remember her name, and they were talking something about her unwillingness to go naked on camera and were laughing like a bunch of women over it. Then she was talking about asians on tv and all of a sudden this all asian boy band shows up! They talked a bit, I remember one having the name Justin, all looked like the typical thugged out backstreet boy what have you, and all could speak english relatively well. THey said they were going to perform later in the show, but I missed that. ANyone ever heard of them or know what I'm talking about?

Is this the band, named "At Last."? One of the members is named Justin. Was the woman Ming-Na? She's the band's promoter.

At Last played at the promenade. They weren't good. They're gonna be at Jingle Ball or something, too. I think one of my friends from high school is tight with them or something, she always talks about them.

AtLast, an Asian American singing group, produced by Eric Zee and ER's Ming Na, performed last night at Jingle Ball at the Arrowhead Pond. They performed with artists Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, etc. They have been featured on 102.7 KIIS FM's Rick Dees in the Morning Show, NBC's The Other Half with Dick Clark and co-hosts, and FOX news. Their group consist of guys from varied ethnic backgrounds. They write and produce their own songs.

I haven't listened to the radio or mtv for a year or two,,, are they on top 40 charts, have they done any music videos, trl, etc?

These guys don't do a good job of representing in the looks department, that's for sure. There's gotta be better looking guys out there who can sing this stuff. Then again, the era of the boy bands may be coming to an end, so these guys may be too late already.

Linkin Park is... sorta... Asian.
The lead singer in Hoobastank is Asian... and totally hot.
The bass player in Bad Religion is Asian...

So I'd say while there are no *ASIAN* bands out in mainstream, it's not HORRIBLY far off.

Besides, don't you guys remember Kai and Devotion and all that crap? Ok, Devotion, technically, I'm not allowed to call crap. I played ball with those guys once. :) Apparently they have good friends that I know.

yeah it's like asian american film-makers. many don't try to go mainstream and stay independent or do-it-yourself. there's not enough of an asian market for production houses to want to invest in them.
