That Fender Stratocaster definitely looks perfect on him!

Good to see another Hendrix fan around here finally.
What's your favorite Hendrix album? I like Electric Ladyland the best. I like a lot of the posthumous stuff too.
All his albums kick ass though.

Jimi Hendrix: Woodstock
Band Of Gypsys
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Radio One
The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At Winterland
Jimi Hendrix: Jimi Plays Monterey
Jimi Hendrix: The Last Experience

Jimi Hendrix: Live At The Isle Of Wight, 1970
And other albums that I can't name off the top of my head right now. Glad that you're Hendrix fan as well. I've seen your post in BANDS. You're a bassist. Do you jam on a regular basis--weekly?

Unfortunately not. I only get to play when law school lets me (i.e. almost never).
Nice collection. I have AYE, Axis, EL, Band of Gypsys and New Rays. I also have South Saturn Delta, Radio One and Live at the Fillmore East. I also have Woodstock, but I'm disappointed that the soundboard engineer mixed out all the percussion and extra musicians. Would have been cool to see what that band sounded like even if it was messy.
I'm thinking of getting the Isle of Wright CD coming out. Heard anything about it?

Where did you get the Monterey concert on CD? I have the old video reissue of the film, but I'd like to get a full version of Machine Gun. That seemed like a great performance.

I got the Monterey CD at the a record store in Berkeley. As soon as I can scrape enough cash I want to purchase the Live At The Fillmore East (Band Of Gypsys, New Year's Eve, 1969-70) video. I hope that's on DVD. I'm going to check the Hendrix.com site to see what's been released.
That engineer is no other than the infamous Eddie Kramer.
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I wanted to hear more of Billy Cox's Bass groove and second guitarist Larry Lee. I was reading the liner notes from the CD booklet and the engineer was having a nightmare of a time trying to get the signals together. Keep in mind that stuff back then wasn't as good as today. But overall he managed to pull it together and give us this kick ass recording.
There's a Japanese import video of the Woodstock concert and it is fuckin' expensive--$100.00! It's out on DVD and cheaper!

Get it! I've got the video and it's Hendrix doing what he's best at--jamming! You won't regret it. If it's out on DVD then you should consider getting that, so that way you can watch him on your big screen (if you have one), turn up the volume, sit back with a beer and take it all in. Lots of energy.... truly an exceptional performer, something that's very rare these days.

That's not a bad way of putting it, Morientes.
What are you listening to now? Please don't say Yngwie...

I used to listen to Jimi Hendrix; indeed I have a few of his cd's -- Electric Ladyland was one of them as was Are You Experienced. At that time I was experimenting with different types of music and I was serious about being a pro guitar player and to a certain extent I still am. Now, this phase has passed but I still listen to some of his music and I still admire his creativity, and of course his virtuoso guitar playing. To me he seems to be like the Rock version of Bruce Lee.
These guys had truly reached the pinnacle of their craft.
And they both shared the same thing in common: Their untimely deaths! (more on that later)

Voodoo Chile (slight return) and Hear My Train A Comin'.
The two Hendrix numbers that make me sit up and take notice.

I'm listening to Bob Marley, 80's electro breakdance. What's Yngwie?
Yngwie Malmsteen. The ultimate incarnation of the technical proficient, artistically soulless guitarist.

Machine Gun is pretty deep too. Anti-war message. But those two that I chose is classic Hendrix jams in the key of E that gets people groovin' cause they're played in a medium fast tempo, whereas Machine Gun is slower. Also you hear a lot of blues in his playing cause he started out playing blues. So essentially he IS a bluesman.
Hey VB! Hey man, What do you mean rape?

He is such a poser too! What do you think about guys like Steve Vai? I'll tell you what I think about these guys>>just my personal opinion. They're just guys exploring the guitar for different sounds. They're technical guys. Joe Satriani is another one. But in terms of reaching a wider audience--don't have what it takes....then again maybe that isn't their intention. But they're always in some advertisement in a guitar magazine...sheeesh! <_<

I agree. I don't think that songwriting is their primary motivation. They just want to see what they can do technically that someone hasn't done before and push their skills.
Which is too bad. I appreciate their playing, but it's not very good listening.
