Gotta go with Thai. Love my food spicy like only SE Asia can make it.

Im for Malaysian. Fusion of a lot of cuisine. Lot of Heat and Flavor.

i dunno, i like the taste of hot food, but i can't handle the fire.

I like hot wings, vietnamese chili paste, salsa, jalapeno chips and all that but i start sweating from the cheeks just thinking about it.

I don't mind the profuse sweating from the face so much but the tongue burn is a bitch.

There's a 10 choice limit, didn't think they'd be voters for Indian based on the board demographics (plus wouldn't feel right without dividing Indian up into at least 3 choices). Personally, I like Persian food better than Indian food.

How is this gonna be any different from the what ethnicity are you poll!

Everyone voting for their own food!

By the way I find it interesing how Chinese is seperated into many groups but Korean is not. One should not be so quick to label a certain taste as Korean, when in actuality Korean food's taste sharply differs depending on the region you are in.

Food in Seoul, differs very strongly from food in Pusan, and the Cholla Region also has a distinct taste.

Areas of North Korea are famous for their variances on food.

I love Korean food, but I certainly don't like the variety that is commonly made in the south west of Korea because it is too salty.

I voted for Chinese and I'm not Chinese. LethalWeapon voted for Thai and he's Vietnamese. I do suspect most will vote for their own ethnicity's food though.

Haha, I'm Taiwanese, but there wasn't a Taiwan selection up there. I guess I could have voted other if I wanted to vote with my ethnicity...

The xiao long baos comment is homage to my sis and friends back in NYC - Joe Shanghai's baby!

I've noticed that Vietnamese food in America is better than the Vietnamese food in Vietnam.

I don't think that's true of most other cuisines.

I've noticed that too LW. And yes, where is Indian in that poll? I am obsessed with Indian food. :P

Picked Southern Chinese cuz greatest variety and I love all types of sweet & sour -- yes s&s is Chinese not American made-up. Also love delicate flavors of steaming fish and seafood.

Didn't go spicy (Thai or North Chinese) cuz I like it for a couple of meals but can't eat it for the rest of my days -- die of heartburn. Korean for same reason.

Have never had Japanese except for sushi -- so can't pick for lack of knowledge. Only knowledge of Vietnamese is pho.

Love Southern Indian -- the rice pudding, chicken masala, tandoori chicken, lamb curry, naan -- I could eat it all (but not more than twice a month). Only like Persian appetizer type foods and rice and roast lamb. God I'm hungry.

Well when you talk about Chinese food, do you talk about like Americanized Chinese food (i.e. more meat, bigger portions, more fat, grease, etc.) or like village Chinese food  , because I think I'll take the bigger portions with cheap prices that I see in Chinatowns everywhere in the US. Obviously HK has awesome 'westernized' Chinese food but also has food from all different parts of the world (of course they like HK'ize it, but oh well), in terms of Chinese food in the US, I'd hafta pick either SanFrancisco or Vancouver BC...

I love Italian food also...but I think this thread was supposed to only talk about the best Asian food.

I love Thai food, Korean food, Japanese food (although BTR I didn't know that there was such a big difference in taste in the food regarding different regions of Korea....I've only had like the big dishes of noodles 'guksu' and of course the cheongshik meals with pulgogi and all the sides, and of course I love kimchi pokkeumbap). Strangely, I've only had instant Pho and not the real kind in the restaurants, which obviously would probably be a bit better. Kinda funny since Pho was like all the rage here a few years ago. But to be fair, I've never really tried any other types of Asian food besides Chinese food beyond my hometown (other than the teriyaki stands in Hawaii), so I don't think I could comment....^^

Out of the list here - Vietnamese food for me. especially chicken curry and pho. Vietnamese food seems to be a good mixture of spice (not too hot and not too mild)
Indian food is good; but it really is too hot at times.
Chinese food I tasted in NYC did'nt really do anything for me.
Thai food - similar to Indian but way too spicy for me.
Japanese food - healthy but tasteless
Korean food - never tried it

Since I grew up eating a lot of Vietnamese food, I'm pretty partial to it. Pho is bomb! Besides Vietnamese, I'd prolly have to say Thai food is pretty good. It's got that nice kick to it. Plus if you wanna have some fun and be the butt of all your friends' jokes, pick the spiciest version you can get.

i was brought up as whitey. i'm partial to japanese food because its similar to scandanavian food i'm use to, like pickled herring and salman lox. i tried korean food earlier this winter, almost died. my girlfriend made me tai food, even the people from tailand that we know thought it was good, but i though i was going to have a heartattack, turned out it was just heart burn. same thing with indian, can't eat it. so i'm sticking to japanese until my pallet broadens.

Last night before I left for school again I had way too much Chinese food (southeast China style) to list in the 'what's the last thing you ate' thread. I'd just like to reinforce and stress my vote for Southeastern Chinese cuisine.
