Technically cuz i been reading 5 star stories since like 1992 the FFS mechs are sumthing else and probably can ass rape most other mechs because of these traits (FFS is a pre=quel to and based on heavy metal L-gaim (1984))

Traits
- Teleportation (eliminates need for flight)
- Reflective armor or shield - negates most energy beam hits
- Fatima - reaction time is amazing
- Melee attack is very strong- mechs can swing at nearly the speed of light
- sub weapons the LED mirage has over 40 individual sub weapons u cant see and are ineffective against other a-class mortor head units (exc/ head cutteR
- buster launcher - nuclear level attack blows up other mortorheads
- E-lanzer "light combustion" based engine, basically almost unlimited fuel theoretical also aids in high movement

Mortor heads i like
FFS name/ L-gaim name

- siren - heavy, normal, female use
- LED mirag/ blood temple
- hydra mirage
- Auge / OG Auge
- bang doll
- Vatsu the black knight - Batshu/ balbub
- junchoon the white night/ L-gaim/ garathm
- bowey (siren sub armor)
- Water Dragon Scleptor
- Wunder-schuetz/ L-gaim Mk.2

Another set of mecha i really like are from Xenogears. which basically had an amalgam of various mechs from different series. Note people should buy the Xenogears Digicube guide its packed w/ used and un-used mecha designs and the character design and alternate/ continued ending.

- the Xenogears title mech - based off the V2 gundam and FSS
- The Ren Manzo - based off the Zeon gouf/ zaku and sentai
- The Wyvern - based off the Z-gundams hyuku shiki and Knight of gold from FSS

Another Square series where i like the mechs alot is front mission 1,2,3, alternative. they are a more realistic depiction of the future of land combat and the mechs are alot smaller at 6-8 meters versus 20-25 meters for gundams and 12-15 meters for macross.

Can we compare mecha?

The Escaflowne mecha (and the allied mecha seem to be a bit inferior to the enemy guymelef)...

The Gundam mecha seems to be unstoppable...

As for the Macross mecha (depends on who is at the controls)...

I was reading a manual on the Macross mecha comparing the Robotech mecha (if you were to join the two universes)...

...and the Macross mecha seems to have Robotech outmatched...
of course the macross mechs are armed w/ nuclear weapons those aint proton torpedo's or reflex warheads...their (nuclear) reaction missiles.

yah i have an old issue of newtype that refers to bothing being related, and it was stated directly in Animemag (in early 90's) and is stated again in the 2002 FSS aniversary issue.

Five Star Stories is sorta a prequel to L-Gaim the conflict in L-gaim is supposed to be the end of the AKD and of amataratsu's kagemusha (fake) Upandala and Sopp/ Amateratsu is supposed to be the arms sales man in l-gaim. The Knight of Gold II parasque mirage = Auge OG and the Auge is a mass produced Parasque mirage. The final arc of five star stories thats introduced in Volume 8 (or 9) that takes place in the future w/ Colus VI -> Daba Myroad (l-gaim) finding the junchoon/ L-gaim begins the retelling of the L-gaim saga. Same creators if u didnt notice L-gaim mecha designer and scripter is Mamoru Nagono who is conversely the author of FSS.

L-gaim is due for a revamp then cause the FSS mecha look much better in my opinion
but are they gonna retell L-gaim in FSS

wylin
12-18-2002, 09:21 AM
they started to but switched gears it will be at the end of FSS probably cuz it leads to the events at the end of time (fortune) because the battles that set up the dictatorship and despotism of the AKD havent been drawn yet, they are basically AKD being like germany and taking over all surrounding area's hints of this are in FSS volume 1:lachesis creation manga prologue, FSS volume 5 prologue right after the combat between the bang doll and ashura temple on Kalamity Gorders (thunder dragon arc) where the story always jumps to around JC 3800~4000. the main storyline is to retell the events that lead to the AKD becoming despotic and the tales of lachesis. FSS is convoluted, nagono hasnt had time to clean it up cuz hez been getting more design and anime design work. the last major thing he did was Tekken tag and Phatasy star online character designs

Okay, here is the geekiest(a word?) question of them all: :nerd:

If we were to pit various mecha, which would prove superior?

*Gasaraki
*Robotech(all generations)
*Escaflowne
*Gundam(I've only seen the original, 0080, part of 0083)
*Macross (I've only seen Macross Plus)

Now that I think about it, I think I was going to write some personal fan fic for usage in the future...

http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/v/v2-assa...ault-buster.htm (http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/v/v2-assault-buster.htm)

The V2 although seemly slow, can shoot through beam shields, had anti ship armerments, and pretty much is impervious to most large shell based and beam weapon hits. only a Vf-1's nuclear missile can kill it.

- gasaraki - is too small and weak to do much damage to large mech they are if u remember 4-5m tall.

- robotech non macross, since robotech dont use nukes like their macross cohorts. their 55mm cannon shells bounce off gundams lile nothing

- escaflowne - gets owned by gasaraki fakes and TA's cuz no long range attacks and about the same size, sorry steam power dont cut it.

-gundam depends what type but even basic gundam mechs fire 90-120mm shells or use particle beam weapons, later ones use beam shields making them pretty hard to kill.

- macross - nukes are good but messy, the 55 or 60mm cannon does jack shit to gundams even in the begining. VF-1 valkerie at end of space war one uses 6 tactical nuclear weapons and fires them at ships

The Gundam Wing Zero, with its laughable ability to take out moon-size asteroids with one shot of its buster rifle would probably kill everyone. (Hardcore Gundam fans are always pissed off at this anomaly).

Its based off the Z gundam which also has a buster riffle a bit weaker and also transforms. The colony killer riffle isnt the strongest gundam weapon (note that wing colony is smaller then MS gundams) the strongest is the Rx-78 GP02's nuclear bazoka it fires a 80 megaton yield nuke and shot down over 200 feddie starships in the process.

Wing Gundam also weights an astonishing 13-17 metric tons compared to the MS-06 Zeta which weights a wonderful 70-80 tons. The qualms most ppl have w/ wing gundam is wheres the ground crushing weight? why does the Wing weight the same as a semi truck?

Thanks, Wylin....

However, I remember reading the RPG on Souther Cross mecha (which seemed to be a bit stronger than Robotech Macross saga mecha)...although, I could be wrong...

...and also, the firepower seemed to be unlimited...

Although, it still may look like the Gundam V2 Buster assault may be the superior mecha...
southern cross mecha evalution

- bioroid (blue/ grey/ red/ invit fighter/ tri-unvarant)- 10m tall uses laser pistol and lasers on its flying chariot. gets blown up by the Hover VT-1's 35mm shell firing assualt riffle...basic gundam sup weapon is 60-75mm auto cannon.

- VT-1 tank weapons: 3-barrel laser, 35mm auto rifle, particle beam cannon (tank and bat mode) gets blown up by bioroid pistols. 12mm tall

- Logan - uses 35mm gattling gun and missiles 8m tall

- Helicopter mech uses beam riffle and missiles 15m tall

for macross/ robotech the strongest of them is the VF-2 from macross 2... its armed w/ back pack... 1x anti ship laser cannon, 6x nuclear missile, 50 micro missile, 1x laser riffle (can carry 2), 2x head laser.

only problem is that most mobile suit after f91 and V have beam shield making long range engagements hard (unless u nuke them). Melee is dangerous for robotech/ macross mech since they are basically unarmed for melee combat.

when do u guyz think mecha will be a viable weapon?

i think that a small power armor between 4-6 meters would be excellent for city combat sumthing like the gasaraki ishtar that rapes the US army in gasaraki eps 3 or 4.

Ishtar
height: 6m tall
engine: sumtype of battery assisted Internal combustion or maybe a fuel cell, fuel autonomy is bout 30-40 minutes.
Armor: ceramic sloped armor looks chomboham type composites at certain areas
Weapons load out: 35mm cannon, grenades, smoke grenades, shield/ cutter (melee), Rail gun w/ 5 shots, 2x Anti Tank missile. Typical loadout is 35mm cannon and shield. or 2 ATM and 35mm for anti armor.
Controls: 2 yokes, and foot pedals, most functions controled via voice commands.
Sensors: optical sensors, night vision via IR.

Veritechs you mean Valkeries type fighter craft they arent feasable at all. I refuse to call them veritechs, they are valkeries thats how their creator shoji kawamori envisioned them to be called. VF = Variable Fighter they are each based off a real plane

VF-1/ VF-0 F-14 the names jacked off North American Valkerie bomber
VF-4 lightining - VF-1 and Northrop YF-23, Name is from Lockheed P-38 lighting
VF-5 Crusader - F-14, names from the Vought Crusader aircraft
VF-14 Vampire - SR-71 , name is from dehavland vampire (uk)
VF-11 Thunderbolt - Sukkoi SU-27/35, name from A-10 thunderbot and P47 thunderbolt
VF-17 nightmare - F-117 nighthawk, name is made up by kawamori
VF-19 (excalibur) - Gruman X-29 and Sukkoi S-37/ SU-42 fighter
VF-21/22 - strum kugel (thunderbird) - YF-23 and F-22, name from older rockwell airplane.

Also w/ current technology i only think that patlabor gasoline powered mechs or gasaraki fuel cell powered armor is feasable and maybe the ground crushing gas burning behemoths of steel battalion/ tekki.co.jp
