I'm talking specifically about great-grandparents and above... I only know about one of them (my paternal great-grandfather) and even so there aren't many details. But what I do know is fascinating stuff... it's even more intriguing because I've been told that I've inherited some of his physical traits whereas they're less apparent in my father and grandfather (throwback genes?).
I've realised that my greatest resource are my grandparents (all four of whom are still living) but I don't want to overstep my boundaries too much with my curiosity. Other than that there isn't much written material out there and there's hardly anything online.
Of those of you who do know, how much of your knowledge was independent research and how much was passed down from your parents and grandparents?
