Check out the Uberman's sleep schedule (http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=892542). In a nutshell, using sleep deprivation to train your body to jump straight to REM sleep, through a series of 6 naps, 20-30 minutes each, 4 hours apart.
In the first week, week and a half, it's utter hell... but it starts working by day 10... according to some who have tried it.
Check it out heh

Exactly what I need...since I've been having bad sleeping habits lately hahaha. Yeah I read about that whole REM sleep cycle thingy and how it works in intervals. How come some people need their 7-8 hours though? Errr... I NEVER GET THAT MUCH SLEEP. I envy those bastards who are asleep...right about now.

That's crazy though...going straight to an REM cycle when you nap. Now that's taking control of the sleeping!

I need more sleep. Ever since i was a little, i've always gotten the short end of the stick when it came to getting enough sleep. I'm quite used to getting 5 to 6 hours sleep, or even 2-4 hrs without it phasing me that much.
I only get 8 hours when i've really been working hard, or i just have that much time to kill.

between the end of eighth grade, and high school graduation I grew 14 inches (4'9 to 5'11), and I was incredibly sleep deprived for most of this time due to insomnia and workload. Since then I've been in college, where I sleep all the time and have only grown another inch (I'm a senior now, 6 feet tall). oh well ... maybe if I slept more I could have grown even taller.

A whole lot of american food, lol. You know western food is filled with extra chemcials, etc. that overstimulate the growth hormones, this explains why people in the U.S. have been rapidly getting taller and taller. It no longer suprises me to see thirteen-year-olds who are 5'10".

Really? My experience has been the exact opposite. I grew about an inch, maybe an inch and a half from freshman year of high school to now, yet when I was a senior all the incoming freshmen were three inches shorter than me. The girls especially got smaller and smaller, it was kind of freaky really.

Damn yall are tall
I was 5'4 in 9th grade and 5'11 when I came out...
Seriously I think the now generation of Asian males are much taller. My brother is only 18 and he's already 6' and still growing. Llike Yuhei said though, I don't think it's affecting the girls. :o

Girls today are starting puberty (re: menstruating) earlier than previous generations of women, but that could be the result of a number of factors ranging from better health care and a more consistent source of food for the current generation to growth hormones in many meat and dairy products. I've yet to read an article on the subject that didn't contradict most or all of the articles I'd read before.
No one cares about how early boys are starting puberty these days; I guess because they can't get pregnant. My personal theory on why kids who are in my generation but younger than me are so small is that within the last 5-7 years record companies, magazines, and TV stations have all lowered the age at which it's deemed OK to start using sex in marketing. The girls are so damn small because they begin worrying about their looks at an earlier age and get picky about their food. It always freaks me out to meet a 13 year old who knows how to count calories... Something I never do, and have little to no motivation to try

i did read an article on newsweek or time about girls starting their periods really early nowadays. one girl first started mestruating when she was 5. which was pretty surprising.
yeah iris. my brother is 20 and he's like 6 something...

5????? That's like mutated and shit, that's not normal at all.......but yeah some girls are getting freaklishly "mature" (from a purely physical standpoint) quite early. I remember a girl in the fifth grade who had breasts the size of most grown women. And that wasn't all that unusual.
