mad exhaust resonance

right now my Sr20det is running fine other then its being broken in still for my new ACT clutch. I do have one major gripe which is partially my fault. my catback Greddy SP/ Trust BL exhaust has rusted and become filled w/ crack and holes since 1995 when u bought it. We think its causing this weird rattling sound that sounds almost like headers hallow cackle....at 2800rpm the downpipe, exhaust all shake wildly causing this mean ass groan that gets loud at higher rpm, the exhaust is pulsing wilding at first we thought oh shit head shield or what not and make we can fix the holes. but i fixed the 2 exisiting holes on my B' pipes resonator(new one) and it still groans.

wat could it be, the turbo is ok i can hear the wastegate and turbo spool cleanly, we checked shaft play and it seemed to be ok, the manifold shouldnt have a hole either since its a stock cast iron thats been inspected. hmmmmmmmmm it on the exhaust stream....

i got a new HKS Hiper Exhaust 25th aniversery (all stainless HKS n1 type unit but quieter) to replace the Greddy which is bout as loud as stock even w/ the weird hissing sounds from sum other hole near the driveshaft.... any thoughts?

check your flex pipe. it may have degraded. your exhaust attaches via uni-ball mount? could be that also. what condition is your cat in? are you even running one? i would check all the exhaust gaskets. get under the car while the motor is on and feel around for exiting exhaust gas. oh yah, and don't touch nothing while the motor is running. it gets hot down there.

if not a leak i would check the exhaust hangar mounts. are the rubber mounts still good? if not use a zip tie to squeeze the rubber mounts together. you might have to get new mounts if that doesn't work.

any exhaust manifold leakage? i would also check that to be sure. could be warpage. you never know. just recheck.

secondary 02 sensor hole? i have had this problem. my dummy 02 sensor plate lost a screw and my car sounded like shit, as if i blew something, since it was letting out exhaust gases pre-muffler. definitely hurt performance due to loss of back pressure, which is still important in a supercharged vehicle.

what is it with 240s? they all have freaking exhaust rattle.

HKS Hiper fixed it yest, new problems i got an exhaust manifold leak from the manifold to the downpipe, the gasket is worn out, gotta order a new metal one from turbonetics...and get a S15 metal manifold to block gasket...fun fun fun.
