being a hapa myself(white and korean).... annoyingly, i've had the unfortunate pleasure talking to some of these people who make it a point that they are a mixture of everything trying to make themselves seem more exotic or sophisticated... i usually want to tell them "this aint the movie ROOTS, muthafucka".."LOL".
to be fair, i understand that some people do hav a very large range of different ethnicities they are mixed with, but to be honest...NOONE WANTS TO HEAR THAT SHIT!!!

This is the first time I ever had a discussion with a militant self hating Eurasian hapa. This is fucking cool as shit. We need to recruit you into the ranks.
So why do you feel the way that you do ? Seriously buddy. Let's talk.

It isn't self hate to express this kind of feeling towards people who try to suggest they are better than monoracial people simply because they are mixed.
I agree with the original poster, a lot of hapas need to get over themselves.

Rainbow hapa my yellow ass.
I only identify myself and think of myself as a monoracial Asian. I really don't give two shiny pennies about the whole hapa experience nonsense. My experience is too unique to compare with others to be bothered with it or discuss it with others at this point. I just stick to my Asian roots. Period.

You misread my comment at Hansolo. I meant that as a toungue in cheek.
Anyway, I kinda disagree. There are many Eurasians who would rather identify themselves with their Anglo European heritage when interacting with their peers (doing the drop one race rule) for the sake of benifiting from white privilage, thinking that they are all of that.
The Eurasians who just act like normal people, cool and down to earth, proud of their Asian roots and all, those are the ones I think are alright in my book.

I am not sure if that is a consious thought, but yes, I do see what you are saying.

I dunno, in my book it really should be up to the people themselves how they want to identify and it isn't abnormal to lean to one side, the other, both, or neither.
The problem is when they project that upon others, thinking it is the only and best way for things.
But that's just my opinion.

Believe me sir, it *is* a conscious thought. Out of my own experience and in interacting with other hapas that has been my observations. I did'nt quote this out of a textbook. I'm speaking from the heart.

So if they want to be white, let them. There's not a thing wrong with that.

i guess a classic example would be ummm, lets say Tiger Woods...that guy refers to himself as "CABLANASIAN"...HAHAHAHAHA... ARE YOU SERIOUS, the guy does look Blasian but throwing the caucasion in their is one hell'uva reach.
his dad looks undeniably BLACK...so what does that mean really?? i mean every black person in this country can go back 4 or 5 generations and can probably find a white ancestor in their lineage... Tiger Woods is a classic example of either A) self hater B) black hater C) he just wants to seem more exotic or D) ALL THE ABOVE
Im just saying that i talked to quite a few people that are like this in my inner circle of hapa friends and let me say that it GETS FUCKIN ANNOYING...im like, "who the hell are you trying to impress anyway"....LOL

He has every right, has he has said many times in his interviews, to identify himself with his entire heritage, if not racially but culturally.
You sound like you got issues.

Surely, you must have some interest in the whole "hapa experience", if your here wasting keystrokes on this thread.... are YOU having a identity crisis??? WAIT, dont answer that, you'll probably come back with a lame comeback on how i cant type and blah,blah,blah...LOL
anyways, I "CANT", get in a argument with you, since its been made quite clear that i cant write opposing views on certain subjects since my comments hav already been deleted on specific topics(cough,cough)...that and a plethora of threats of being banned.....so cheers :biggrin:

Just as you would want people to allow you to identify how you want to, perhaps you should extend the same courtesy to others.

I don't know where you got racist from that, but stating that about Tiger Woods sure showed some discomfort on your part.

This reminds me of that thread that said something about Asians trying to out-Asian each other. I guess it happens in all groups no matter the racial/ethnic makeup.
