eh ... scary. here in HK, my dorm has a door with a electronic code lock, along with a check-in desk. granted, the guy at the check-in desk mostly either sleeps or smokes on duty, but for the most part, this, in a low-crime area of a low-crime city, is a higher level of precaution than in my rather higher-crime small college town on the east coast, where, just like LA, you can get into the dorm if anyone lets you in or holds the door for you (and where people have been known to get into physical altercations with dormmates who don't hold the door for them), and there's no security on duty.

yep..it's pretty scary..my brother is in UC davis and i think there was some incident where a girl got sexually assaulted when she was awakened by two men who somehow got into her room..that's pretty darn scary..imagine yourself sleeping and suddenly..you see two heads in your closed room late at night.. :(

Just make sure to lock your door at night. Although you may trust your hallmates or suitemates, they're not the only ones in your dorms.

hmm...that sounds freaky. but luckily we have a pretty tight security system at the dorm where I''m staying at.
