I'd like to live in Taiwan again in the near future, sans all the diseases I got. I miss it so much sometimes it drives me crazy.

Well my top choice would be HK. Although by definition it isn't a country. Canada and the UK are tied in second place - I really like living here and I can sorta see myself staying on after I graduate.

It definitely is, but it's harder to get around without knowing Chinese than say definitely Hong Kong or even Vietnam, which has better English speakers by far and a much more developed tourist market toward Western travelers by far. You'll still be able to do a lot just on English, but you'll really really be missing out. Taiwan's tourist infrastructure just isn't that developed, especially on the higher-end. The metro is really great, but it's limited and bus system is made purely for locals (although improvements are one their way). I think the tourists that end up having the most fun are HK-ers and Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese because they can figure stuff out and plus in the case of the latter two a lot can speak Hokkien.

I don't think I could ever get bored of HK - it's a small place but there's so much to discover. I lived there for 15 years and in that period of time I've probably seen only 70% of it.
