What's your plan for NYE?
I've done the Times Square thing, and though I'd like to see if I can do it without freezing, I first want to try NYE in a club.
I'd like to see Tiesto at the World, in Times Square (but no view of the ball), but tickets for that start at $125. At that price, no open bar, no buffet (all that starts at $350). Would anyone (or is anyone going to) pay that much?
At Exit, supposedly there will be a 24-hour party, starting off with Paul Oakenfold, followed by Junior Vasquez playing from 4 am to midnight. That will cost at least $100.
At Estate (ex-Limelight), Deep Dish is supposedly playing. I haven't heard too much about that, but I have heard that the crowd is not as good as it used to be.
Arc's party features Saeed & Palash and a bunch of other DJ's, and goes for $35, so I'll probably pick that.
Those in LA are lucky - there's the Hollywood Blvd event (with PVD and co.), and I've also heard about John Digweed playing an 8-hour set there. Maybe for next New Years (2003->2004) I might try that, as a friend is getting married the weekend before. What can I do on the days in between (Monday - Wednesday) to make taking the vacation time worthwhile?

well... if i could go to a club to see a world class dj spin for insane amounts of time... a la tenaglia last year at 1015.. :o
i would! alas... three more years to wait.
not really a big deal to go to a rave on nye... i know some ppl that want to go to planet new year's here in norcal, but i can go to a rave anytime. i'd rather nye be more special i suppose.
only big draw for going to planet new year's: PVD's 2-hour set... haven't seen him live yet. him and rank 1 are left on my list of to-sees. :D

I wanna see the ball fall in Times Square. Maybe next year.
Wasn't Oakenfold at Exit the day before Thanksgiving, also? I get e-mail updates about that place, although I've yet to actually go. For some reason, one of my friends signed me up for the updates. I dunnooo?

btw, for those in LA, if you go to see Digweed, come earlier to hear Jay Ell. He's an up-and-coming Asian-Am progressive house DJ, and he's quite good. Those who have used the old Mixture site may know the name. Info at http://www.jayell.com
Although this is on New Year's Day...
Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten together!!!

Exit is the largest club in NYC
The crowd and security search at the door kinda suck, but it's worth checking out once for the venue
Oakie played at Exit on Thanksgiving Eve, then the following night at Estate
He's doing 2 places in NYC on NYE - first Exit, then Capitale... or is the other way around? Capitale ain't cheap either - $200 in advance. Obviously he can be at only one place for the countdown, if that matters. I don't know which one though.
amietron, do you get the emails via ClubPlanet? Or some other list/site?
I got the email about the Etoile event too. That's an Asian party. Too much hip-hop for me at these events, but I go when there's nothing else going on. Anyways, I chose instead to go see the #5 DJ in the world.
By the way, for NYC folks, there's an XO (= Asian) Xmas Eve party at Roxy. And there's a Asian NYE party at the Roseland Ballroom, which is a pretty big place. Supposedly it's an event "fours years in the making". If you go, I'd like to hear about it!

Armin van Buuren is the "#5 DJ in the world" according to the DJ Magazine poll
Tiesto is #1, the first non-UK DJ to win that honor.
Here's the list:

ever since '99 when my friend's car got rolled over and set on fire, many of my friends have an aversion to going out on new year's. so I usually end up at someone's house party. dunno what it's gonna be like this year cuz I got no car, since my mum crashed it into a tree.

$75/head including alcohol. Considering that most parties'll cost between $30-50 for cover alone, that ain't too bad. For New Year's 2000, we chartered a limo bus that cost about $150/head...

The way things are going, I might be sitting at home... it sucks to have to work on NYE and Jan. 2nd... can't go anywhere fun. Besides, already been to Vegas, Tahoe and Giant in years past and was really more of a hassle. Looks like Arcadia is party central for me on NYE... so sad... so, so, sad.

NYE going to doing dinner and drinking with friends at a friend place.
NYD - I will be at a circuit party Mass (http://www.guspresents.com/mass.shtml) for the Recovery party. I was suppose to go out clubbing on NYE with the combo price ($55 presales for both events.) But I rather spent it with friend on that day. The ticket for this event is 20.00 presale and 30.00 at door. It starts at 6pm and ends at 12pm so I can go home and get some rest in time for work tomorrow. woohooo

Actually you are thinking of Pallendium which is the night before. It is sponsor by the same people as Mass. It is 40 presale and 50 dollar at door. It is from 9am to 9pm with Massages,m Confetti Drop, Free Breakfast and Champegne :)

my bf's been gone for two weeks. he'll be back on New Year's Day at 9pm. I'll be spending time with a close friend of mine and her friends at their apartment possibly drinking away. No one's there to kiss me either. :( But that's ok. When the s.o. gets back, we'll make up for it. hehehe... *wink*

Nothing fun in particular to do in Missouri. Most of the clubs here are 21 + so my friends and I can't really get in . So we'll probably party at someone's house and then to go Ozzie Smith's restaurant in the city to celebrate the New Year. :)
It should be fun
