i love both, but if you had to choose, who's job would you rather have?

i choose Bourdain so i can go on Top Chef and talk smack about dishes the contestants made, and also so i can avoid eating things like skunk penis.

^ Hahaha. I chose Zimmerman because I hate how Bourdain put down those aspiring chefs on Top Chef

According to Bourdain, the most disgusting thing he has ever eaten is a Chicken McNugget, though he did declare the warthog rectum he ate in Namibia and the fermented shark he ate in Iceland as among 'the worst meals of his life'.

I'm not sure the warthog rectum is much better.

My stepfather's father used to hunt squirrels and possums and cook them for dinner.

He was also good at scrambling cow brains with eggs and cooking chitins (pork intestines). Yeech.

My cousin ate rattlesnake one time.

One time a fillipino friend of mine actually tricked me into eating BARBECUED DOG when I was in HS. Yeah. It tasted oddly like pork.

I tried curry armadillos and goat when I visted some distant relatives from my Asian extended family in the West Indies. Too bony. No meat in it.

And recently I tried streamed snails at a restaurant in Chinatown. Nasty.

I seen it all when it comes to weird stuff to eat as food and I definetly DONT want Bourdains job. I had my fill of exotic foods. :P

I choose Bourdain because he does a lot more fine dining and getting drunk on his shows. He also has cooler friends like Eric Ripert (Le Bernardin is on my list of favorite restaurants I've ever eaten at) and Zamir. Zimmerman just annoys me and his friends are a bunch of dorks.

Bourdain because when he travels abroad it seems that his job is more to get the experience that comes with the food, not just the food.

bourdain just cracks me up because of how he judges restaurants by whether or not he can smoke inside. there was a marathon over the weekend showing all of his visits to the asian countries. it looks like he visits his friends in these countries as well as local food bloggers...? by far, hong kong was my favorite.

zimmerman just seems better-natured, less sarcastic, but with that, also less suave and less entertaining. the funny thing is that bourdain sometimes eats foods that are just as bizarre yet he doesn't make such a huge fuss over it.

girlfriend told me that Bourdain has toned it down with the weirdness of food that he eats, and that Zimmerman is basically eating the kind of stuff that Bourdain used to eat.

one thing i like about Bourdain is that he can be a smartass about the different cultural practices and food that he encounters without being disrespectful about it.

I just liked Anthony Bourdain's show more than Zimmerman's.

He's tried more booze than I've seen Zimmerman try, and it was amusing to try and see him recover off certain spirits that the locals brew up.

Esp after the episode of Bourdain in Korea, where his friend threw him from the hip during a martial arts demonstration, and left him breathless on the floorl. It amused me. Also helped that his friend for that particular trip to Korea was a young attractive Korean woman.

i liked the episode when he was in China sipping tea in a tea garden or whatever it was. A guy comes over and cleans out his ear and flexes/flails his arms as a relaxation practice. It was pretty frickn hilarious watching him say "goodbye" as the guy flexes his wrists up and down at the camera. He also smokes after he visits the doctor to help him with his back pain. My parents still do the "cupping" thing.... if you know what i mean.

Is it in Zimern's contract that he has to eat 1 dick per show?

The best was the New Orleans episode where he met Emeril after taking pot shots at him every now and then especially when he was on the food network with "A Cook's Tour." He now seems to focus his attention on Tyler Florence, Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay and Jamie Oliver.

It's the smell. A lot of people actually really like the taste. To me, the taste is almost tolerable, but if you have a sensitive nose, the smell will overpower your will to be in the room.

During college, someone went to Chinatown and brought back a durian. The fire department and the police evacuated part of the dorm thinking it was a gas leak.

Hilarious.

I only dare to eat it when I had a stuffy nose. Even then, I had to freeze the thing, and eat it like uhhh....custardy stuff, i guess?

Then again, I treat this stuff like I do stinky tofu.

Did either of them get forced to eat fermented tofu or rocky mountain oysters yet?

is stinky tofu, fermented tofu?
i remember seeing andrew eat stinky tofu at a popular hole in the wall
place and he couldn't eat it either.

i was recording both of these shows for a couple of weeks but
after awhile, i found myself fast-forwarding through most of it.
it was just too gross for me to handle. i haven't watched it since.

Stinky tofu is different, now that I think about it. The fermented stuff is typically in jars, left in sauce/wine, I think and has the consistency of brie/really really soft cheese.

Stinky tofu depends on place to place. I've had it where it was the silken tofu consistency, and with heaps and heaps of chili stuffs in the mix, and I've had it where the tofu crumbles apart like regular tofu. It just stinks like high hell. My friend has eloquently describe the aroma of stinky tofu as standing downwind of a pile of fresh elephant turd at the zoo.
