Cung Le Vs. Shamrock. Man, Shamrock prolly will finish Cung Le, but hope Cung Le can get a couple of body kick in. That would bring Shamrock down for sure.

Kazushi Sakuraba "The Gracie Hunter" (Considered an all time great / MMA Legend)

Genki Sudo (look up this dude on youtube. one of the most entertaining and awsesome fighters EVER) He was a performating arts major in a University in California.. if you want the explanations to his insane entrances.. as for his in-ring antics... they speak for themselves.

knocking people out spinning back fists. jumping off the top rope like a pro wrestler. flying arm bars converted into flying triangle. (he has some of the trickiest sickest submissions you'll see)

breaks out into dancing the robot in the middle of the ring then punches his oppoent straight up in the face.

countless other ridiculous stuff.

//yes I'm a nuthugger.

as for cung le vs frank shamrock. frank is fighting on a busted knee. he doesn't have the stand up skills for cung le and cung le has chosen to hide his ground game. he's been wrestling since he was a kidd and he's been training BJJ and Judo for takedowns and takedown defense.

I'd have to give it to Cung Le cuz he's healthy, his head is in the right place and his style and structure is so unorthodox and different that I doubt Frank will know how to handle it besides trying to bum rush into a takedown.

additionally who the heck has Frank Shamrock beat LATELY?!
baroni? that guy was a CAN.
for all the ones saying Cung Le has fought cans
Frank Shamrock has done the same.
he hasn't beaten anyone of note since Tito and Tito isn't even that great in the evolved context of the sport today.

Um... I don't know as much about MMA as you do. I just started following it the last 4-5 years. You may be on points. I hope Cung Le won though. Frank has been talking smack lately. Still, I am not sure about Cung Le hiding his ground game though.

Cung Le doesn't use his ground game unless he needs to.
Strikeforce (where he fights) is a promotion that primarily prefers and encourages its fighters to go for knockouts as opposed to submissions.

Cung Le being one of their "flagship" fighters is more than willing to oblige.

as for his ground game. it's more than been established. he has a background in wrestling and is I think blue or purple in BJJ.
He's even competed in grappling competitions:

this blurb from hsi offical page is a bit hyperbolic but he has demonstrated his ground. its just that his standup is so much more noteworthy, unorthodox and different than the "norm" in MMA that most people pay attention to that exclusively.

Having conquered the Sanshou world in every conceivable manner - as an international medalist, an undefeated ESPN2 Strike Force professional fighter, and wildly successful US Sanshou Team coach - Le grew tired of the criticisms from the pundits who said he was "only" a Sanshou fighter and would never make it big in the mixed martial arts cage. In spite of his powerful KO and tap out victories at the World Shidokan Championships (the triathlon of martial arts where competitors must demonstrate superlative striking and grappling/submission skills) there were still those who loudly questioned whether the human highlight reel could make any such footage in the No-Holds-Barred cage matches.

He silenced them all.

Yeah Cung Le really beat down Shamrock last night. In my eyes, he won three straight rounds before Shamrock decided he had enough. I could see on TV how bad Sharmock's right arm were. It was badly bruised. I had no idea it was broken.

I thought Shamrock would be able to take Cung Le down and used his ground game and submission to his advantage. It wasn't the case. Still, Shamrock can take shots. Kicks to the head, and punches didn't knock him down. Good fight, especially with Cung Le's victory.
