One word: bleeecch!

The Japanese beer company Kirin has rolling out a new brand of brew: Hot Beer.

The beer, which is heated to 120 degrees Fahrenheit, includes a cinnamon stick and sugar cubes.

"The heat of the beer is supposed to bring out flavors not present when served cold, including a deep aroma not unlike that of coffee," said one American expat in Japan.

Anyone up for a nice steaming mug of 'Hot Beer' ?

I think I'll pass, and settle for a Irish Coffee instead, thanks. :keels over and starts vomiting:

Well, you never know unless you try.

I might give it a shot. Those Japanese are known as pretty adventurous gourmands.

I remember this guy in one of his posts one time brag about how he got an autograph from this Japanese AV idol star named Ichigo Milk. Warning: Contains nude pics.

^ Any guesses as to how this might actually taste like? With the cinnamon in it and all ?

Put some sugar and cinnamon in a Guinness and microwave it for 20 seconds and tell us. May taste something like eggnog.

I wonder if all the bartenders in the US are going to start serving drinks in the bars like that, making the 'Hot Beers' from scratch ?

"I like mine's microwaved, not stirred." Yeah, I know that sounded corny.

One difference between sake and beer and serving temp. Both can mask off flavors of a cheap brew but for beer you chill and for sake you heat. Typically you wouldn't chill a stout. That's for Americans.

I like it on the cool side but not ice cold like other beers. I thought that's how it's supposed to be served. But I defer to the potato queen (http://forums.yellowworld.org/showthread.php?p=531402#post531402).

IMO beer needs to be and should be ice cold always. But if you enjoy a thicker, creamier beer like a ale or something it could be ok warm but i don't think i'd like it.

Wait, wait. This won't do. I must compose a new one combining Kirin and Guinness. Oh, the light and the dark. The cold and the warm.

Okay. I'm here with sum pals in the skool cafeteria. I just made some homemade 'Hot Beer' according to Yeahman's trademark recipe.

:gulp: :gulp:

Wow !! Hey!! This stuff's not half bad. The cinnamon is really a nice touch too. It goes down pretty good. I'm not joking. I think these brewers might really have a hit here with this hot beverage. Two thumbs up !!

:getting buzzed: :burp:

This tastes NOTHING like eggnog though.

I know nothing about poetry. Was that a haiku or a limerick?

The limerick is a form of poetry that originated in England. It ALWAYS consists of five lines.

The haiku is always written as three lines.

So is this written as a haiku maybe? Wild guess. . .

Just realized that the craze for "Hot beer" is going on in Europe too. There is a liqueor called Ultrapres (link: http://www.mybeer.dk/en/varmoel.php) which is heated in the microwave or heated up in a pan and then served with whipped cream.
