Roman descendants found in China?
Residents of a remote Chinese village are hoping that DNA tests will prove one of history's most unlikely legends — that they are descended from Roman legionaries lost in antiquity. For more information on this subject, click on the link below.

they'd probably find a more plausible explanation by checking out the drinking water used in that village.

Why exactly are you so dismissive? Plenty of stories of the exact opposite have been suggested for the small supposedly-Chinese outposts in southern Africa and South America, and in this case it's easier since it's entirely over land.
^^ i'm dismissive because there is no written historic record of the romans ever being in China.
i'm equally suspicious of the supposed chinese outposts in africa and america.

i've seen a documentary on it before, it makes a lot of racist assumptions and non-evidence to prove it was true.
ie. there is a skeleton of a man in a tomb who measures 6 feet. They assume there are no such thing as 6 foot tall asians so they assume that it's probably a roman soldier.
Their only strong evidence was an account of the tortoise shell tactic being used.

i think there are records of contact between the Roman Empire and the Chinese Empire, but i don't think there are any records of any Romans settling in China.

Maybe they didn't settle there. Perhaps there were just visitors there?

A couple of my Chinese co-workers told me once that there are blond-haired blue-eyed Chinese people in Northern China. Well, that doesn't surprise me since Northern China borders Russia.

I'm not exactly shocked by this sort of thing.
If anyone has seen people from the Sino-Purssian border?
Anyway, there will also be bunches of people who likes to explore. They pack enough supplies for the journey... or normally so they think, and then get stuck in a place. They set up a home, get friendly with the local and the rest is history.

There must have been some contact between different civilizations. I mean, how else would gunpowder and compass get spread from China to medieval Europe?
There's a really good chance of a group of travelers settling in a foreign land and getting a few drinks and a date.

There probably weren't many 6 ft. tall Romans either. The average Greek of classical times was about 5'3".

There's nothing really shocking about a 6 foot tall person in China these days, especially in the North. Nor people with mixed looking features in that region. It could mean anything, it's just as likely, probably most plausibly these people are Turkic in some way or Russian even.

like many historic Chinese products and inventions, gun powder and probably the compass traveled to Europe via the Middle East through the Silk Road, and not directly to Europe from China.

i don't care what color. my excoworker had a 1 year old pale little girl who had a very light color hair. i asked her how come. She said she doesn't know, and they are both chinese. she seemed little annoyed by that. i guess she think people may have thought her husband was white.
on the contrary, my sis who married a white guy really hopes her now 2 weeks old girl, will have blue eyes like him. ridiculous.
my own little boy also have lighter hair color, the dad was the same when he was a kid, and finally turn dark in early teen.

I believe that's a genetic thing, with a problem producing "enough" melanin that gets straightened out later. Probably something to do with the growth spurt.

My hair is slowly turning blonde. Everyday I spray some peroxide on it and it gets lighter and lighter.

Most of the Han Chinese people I know who are 6 feet plus are from Northern China. I thought perhaps food/nutrition accounted for the height difference between people from the North and people from the South. But my Mom told me that she thinks it has more to do with the colder climate up north. I suppose it is a combination of the two. Proper nutrition will allow you to grow, whereas a poor diet will stunt your growth. Perhaps people living in colder climate regions have grown taller over generations in order to adapt to the harsh environmental conditions. It's kinda like animal adaptation, what you learn in high school science class.

I think it's more then just food.
Environment also plays an important part. I'm not just talking about fresh air but more the wide open spaces. I'm a big believer that if you let a kid grow up in a compressed space, the they'll be physically smaller whereas a kid that is in an environment where space isn't a problem, you'll notice the difference in physical size.
