Happy Thanksgiving everyone. How does everyone celebrate their holidays asian style?
Everyone I know nearby is having Chinese-style Turkey stuffed with sticky rice. We're doing the same and also cooking a lot of Taiwanese and Shanghai dishes and some uncle is bringing some Hunan food. There will also be lots of Taiwan beer and pumpkin pie.

I had dumplings today.
It was all good. :D
wha...??? nobody in my family has ever stuffed the turkey with sticky rice.
we're pretty white when it comes to thanksgiving, and ever since my parents' divorce, it's been double feasts. ugh. yesterday, at home, we had ham, garlic mashed potatoes (which i made and kicked ass), sweet potatoes, corn, and cheesecake (which i made and kicked ass). at my dad's it was turkey, brussels sprouts, corn, and mashed potatoes.
i'm seriously done eating for the month.

Turkey, cornbread, yams, pumpkin cheesecake, curry beef, apple cider, and ice cream at my brother's house with his gf and parents
Then went over to my friend's house and had more turkey and turkey stuffing, pudding, mashed potatoes and gravy, cookies and cake, pumpkin pie
For whatever reason even though everyone was Asian we didn't have really a single Asian dish.

Mom made turkey with stuffing on the side, baked Ham and mixed vegetable. My aunt brought mashed potato with no gravy, and fish maw soup. Another family brought greenbean casserole. We also had dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cranberry sauce which we bought from the supermarket. Then I went to a friend's house and eat more turkey, spicy Thai squid salad, devil eggs, duck noodle soup, black forest cake ...
That's all I can remember. And we also played Texas Hold 'em and watch football.

Went to a friend's house for Turkeyday and Black Friday.
For turkey day dinner had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, apple pie, Kim chee, jap chae, and dumplings/rice cake soup.
Morning meal was pumpkin gruel of some sort, with rice and spicy tofu - stuff ( yeh I'm not big on names, I just eat, sorta ).
Lunch was Kalbi and leftovers.
Threw a baseball and a football around, and got dragged around by his childhood friends to go Black Friday shopping. His Korean childhood female friends make me wary about how quickly they had this jock-like Korean dude whipped. -blinks- And he's always talkin' about the "korean high fives". I guess he's the one getting them.
