View Full Version : Can a racist white girl be "reformed?"

I was recently talking with an old high school buddy and he told me a female classmate of ours from our Midwestern high school got remarried. She was a popular white girl, class president, pretty hot and rumored to be quite promiscuous. Apparently this girl married a couple of times and got divorced, and her job in media or public relations brought her out to California in recent years. Anyway, my buddy told me this woman got remarried again to a Japanese-American man, some political consultant type.
What I found surprising about this is I recall this girl in high school was racist and lots of folks including myself did not think she was a very nice person. I remember hearing her use the term "like a chink" when she was talking about this white guy whose eye squinted when he smiled. Then decades later she marries a "Jap."
Do you think her views changed over the years, she matured, or do you think perhaps she still has those views but married for money, looks or convenience. The new husband is fairly affluent, I understand. What do you all think? Can these attitudes change with maturity?

her attitudes need not have changed. if he's as rich as u say, he's prolly treating her as arm candy and she was willing to overlook minor blemishes (such as his race) when he bought her that 3 carat ring.

Maybe her attitude changed, maybe it didn't. There's really no way for us to tell. She married him so probably, or maybe she wasn't that hardcore of a racist to begin with anyway.

on me as joking derogatory statements

Yes, I think she was racist. HS was in the 1980s at a mostly white school, so if the word was used, it was used in a derogatory manner, not like among APAs in the recent years who use it teasingly among each other. However, I also think she might have been one who was open to things others were not, no pun intended, like lots of sexual partners and interracial relationships. A lot of girls from that Catholic HS were conservative and only married other white Catholics and never left the state or city. I would like to think she has matured or reformed, and she probably has to some degree, although knowing her, her ambitions made marrying this political player guy all the easier since he has money and influence.

This is silly. And all this time people have been complaining about white guys that date or marry Asian women and are still racist. Hello. It's possible. But who knows. Who cares. Personally I believe everyone is engrained with a certain degree of prejudice and it's all a matter of how much the mind tends to retain out of convenience and how much of it is manifested into actions. It's all a matter of extent b/c it's just an interconnected spectrum.

Without ever having met her, we can move beyond mere speculation to answer your question about a complete stranger with absolute certainty becase people's brains are chiseled into stone just before high school graduation by minature troglodytes. That is why adult heads weigh more than infant heads. It's true. Look it up.

You should post a picture of her. Only by looking at her picture can I tell if she's got that racist look to her.

A lot of things can happen from high school to post college. She might have met Deez_Nuts while in school and then she got a bit of Asian in her while in school, who knows. It's kind of stupid to think that some people don't change from their teenage years. (Yeah, I realized there are people who DON'T change, but I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt until their ass-hatery is verified.)

Since you're an AF maybe you can answer me this one question: why is it that, generally, when I walk alone past AF's they hardly take a second look at me (I'm not actually complaining; I just want to know why this is), but when I walk with non-AF's they always like to stare at us. Any other Asian guys notice this?

susing the word chinky, or term chinky eyes or even jap does not amke someone racist. Ignorant YES!, Racist, not really. Cause many asian call Japanese Jap as a short form. But yea it depends on the context.
I know many Asian who use the word nigga...they call other asian nigga, or they just use it to sound cool.
