Mediterranean Veggies just my fancy way of saying French style: julienne cut veggies mushrooms, carrots, onion, snowpeas, zucchini or squash. (Didn't have squash either) Then sauteed in butter and add red wine to simmer.

Didn't have butter or wine, so I did stir fry, hence chop suey veggies with soy sauce!

well, my dad cooks mushrooms, asparagus and peppers in the oven. he just sprinkles over the olive oil so that some gets onto most of the veggie pieces and then sprinkles pepper on top.

Q. How do I roast garlic cloves and what spices should I use?

A. Roasting garlic is about as easy as boiling water. If you’re roasting a whole head, cut off the top half inch or so and trim the root end only if it needs cleaning. But do not detach the cloves. Put the head in a small ovenproof dish or pan. Drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil or the fat of your choice over the garlic. Add a quarter-cup of water or stock to the pan. Place the pan in the center of a 500°F (260°C) oven and roast for 25 to 30 minutes. You can roast individual cloves in their skins in the same way, just omit the water or stock, and roast for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the largest cloves are soft to the touch.

You don’t need any herbs or spices to accompany roasting garlic, but if you want, use anything you like. Our choices would be a little thyme, tarragon or rosemary.

It was flambe something and the fire was hypnotic; swaying, dancing, and seductively negotiating its way around the plate like a tawdry amateur belly dancer at a cheap Greek restaurant with souvlaki that is highly suspect in terms of quality.

All in all, it was great fun. I watched the alcohol induced tendrils of orange flame lick (and one could even say "caress") the fruit on the platter whilst my date made snide remarks about the couple across our table and their inability to eat with their mouths close.

*two thumbs up* For a rollicking good time!

P.S. Mud pie is good and so is cheesecake. This one time I shared a four inch tall slice with a friend and never again am I putting myself through the aftereffects of a coiling miasma induced by an overindulgence in rich dairy products.

But it was good. *drool*

Cherries are apparently in season. Had some great Rainier cherries a few weeks ago.

I've been looking for recipes online, but none of them say specifically . . . I've been using teriyaki . . . [/b][/quote]
I can tell ya after I make them for the first time this weekend. ;)

I'll probably first try just splashing a little soy sauce on the spam as it's cooking (that's what someone online suggested for spam). If that's not enough I'll just raid the fridge and try different sauces (mainly, soy, teriyaki, oyster, and hoisin) for dipping. Hmmm.... I wonder if that Vietnamese dipping sauce would work well for a little sweetness...

Most of the recipies I read didn't even mention using a sauce.

Ohh... and last thing I ate was some gyro, chicken gyro, hummus (well, the restaurant labels is as homos), and pita bread. With a nice salad. I wuv middle eastern food.
