I'm in a moral quandry. All of my mother in law's items were passed to me upon her death. I've sorted through and dealt with most of it and all that's left are a few dresses.

I've kept them because for some reason the idea of sending it to the Salvation Army where someone would pick it up for kitsch value bothered the heck out of me. I don't and won't wear them for a variety of reasons, I'm sure you all can surmise.

So what to do with them? With respect that they are culturally specific clothing and that they belong a member of our family. I can't pass the buck on this. My husband has no input and is leaving it up to me. I could just continue to keep them. They don't take up that much room but I think now is an appropriate time to move on and we have other items that are more heirloom appropriate for our son.

Any input is appreciated. This has been eating at me for a while. Thanks.

put it in a "time capsule" and then bury and "forget" about it. or u could keep it and give it to ur son's future wife just as u received it.

or if u're a pyro, u could fuel a pyre in her honor w/ it.

don't burn them. just get a chinese chest and put it in there. the chest will look nice.

If they're really old, I suggest you just keep them in your family for heirlooms sake and put it somewhere.

keep them in good condition and when you're old, they may be old enough as items that can be donated to a museum or a gallery or something.

How old and what types? Can you post an example of what you're looking for?
