I had an interesting experience in college one year. A white girl hung out a lot with the Japanese students (which is how I met her) and upon discovering I was mixed race, she wanted me to be part of her study for an upcoming project she had. I wasn't exactly offended, but it made me feel weird. Has anyone ever wanted to study you? What did you think of it?

Do you mean something like being on the computer in the main campus computer lab and having some Asian girl come up to you asking forward questions and giving you some paperwork to fill out ? I can only think of one time I know of that kind of thing happening. Other people (Asian guys) when hearing more details about the incident made comments that she was probably trying to hit on the guy. However, I am skeptical of that conclusion.

I get that sometimes. But now that I've developed a sense of conscience, I refuse to participate. I'm too much of a sarcastic bastard to give straight answers to survey questions.

I participated in an online survey from halfkorean.com but other than that I don't know.

Revitalizing an old thread to revitilze this dying forum......
Actually, for the thousandth time in my life, I got to be someone's lab rat in the popular game of "spot the japanese features". Someone found out about my japanese middle name and of course asked me about my ethnic origins. No problem there. But then the usual comments came of, "You don't look japanese (bet a lot of hapas can relate to that) and then subsequent comments of, "no, his eyes kinda look japanese." And then, "Oh, look, he's got buckteeth", etc. Yes I know the feeling. I have been pressured to join groups promoting racial harmony simply because of my race. It's an awkward feeling.
BTW, has anyone else experienced that? Y'know, let's spot the non-asian (white, black, etc.) features, and/or let's spot the asian features. And then let's judge if he looks more asian or white (or black, etc.).

My friend wants me to marry a Hapa guy so that I'll have super-hapa children. She wants to see how they turn out, claiming that it is possible for one to look entirely white and one to look entirely Asian. She's really smart, and a bioengineering major going into genetics, but is that really possible? It seems unlikely to me.

Sounds kinda simplistic to me. Plus, 'looking White' and 'looking Asian' are so freakin' subjective anyway... I think my light skin makes me look more Japanese, but I got that from my (White) mom, my father is quite dark-skinned. Sometimes it is amusing to see which features people will say are Japanese and which the'll say are White, but most of the time it's just really annoying.

doubt it'll be 100% either way...
one of my profs... he married a korean hapa... 3 of his kids out of 4 have blue eyes and light brown/dark blonde hair...at first glance they look white but then..., you notice something different in their facial structure..
the wife looks more korean btw... i didn't notice any 'white' features. his youngest kid got lot of the korean features. i think it is possible, in theory, but the chances of a hapa/hapa couple having kids that only got all the traits from one race is almost unlikely.

hey we actually have a YW member (noriko (http://forums.yellowworld.org/index.php?act=Profile&CODE=03&MID=548)) that has parents that are both mixed. her father is white/japanese, and her mother is white/chinese.
but she's not active on the site anymore.
