What do you think of making it registration only to view forum threads? Is there a reason why they're open to everybody?

I TOTALLY appreciate having the S&R forum closed to lurkers.

Maybe guest shouldn't be able to see who says what, but they can see the posts themselves?

Oh, yeah, that makes sense, yeah. But I don't know if that's possible to do?

hmm... well letting everybody see the forums (except S&R) attract users. i mean they have no reason to take the extra step to register if they can't see whether or not the forums are interesting. :)

Hey that sounded a bit clique-ish. I'm sure that's not what you meant to convey, angel...

I registered on YW because I thought the forums were interesting, and a couple of friends work on the website. I'd say attracting users is a good thing. Especially towards such an asian-aware site. AsianAvenue has turned too commercial and less aggressive in a civil rights standpoint. YellowWorld is that breath of fresh air.

"Justice for Anna Guo" was what garnered my respect! If I was unable to browse these forums....this site would appear too private....

Well said.

The Sex & Relationships forum is viewable only to registered members since they have to sign the COPPA agreement (13 & over). We can also make certain forums password protected, but I haven't seen the need for those yet.

I don't want to attract more users because I joined YW so that I could post in a closer knit community. More users means its less personal. It's already starting to get on my nerves that I don't know the names or ideas or even avitars of most of the newer users.

How much bandwidth is YW currently using up? If there's bandwidth issues than maybe not allowing guests to look around the forum would save a bit of space...
