Though I'll be away to deal with emerging food allergies in my own family I want to leave an open thread here for parents and/or adult Asian American individuals or families that are dealing with moderate to severe food allergies.

The big beef I'm having right now is the stance on "Asian food" in particular and how it's lumped all together as dangerous as if all of it is the same. There are other challenges that very much include cultural influences of food and travel. Many of our families travel to Asian countries and we all look forward to, and simultaneously dread, banquets or any meals we haven't prepared ourselves.

I'd like to build a network online for Asian American families dealing with this. Please do not post in here unless you are part of an Asian American family dealing with food allergies. Questions are fine, however.

It's important to our kids to provide them with as much access to culturally important foods, events and travel while we still try to manage and avoid risk as much as possible.

Additionally, I'd like to pool community resources to see if we can uncover more about a promising Chinese herbal formula that is showing some efficacy blocking reactions. To this end I will be documenting and sharing any results and information I dig up.
