I've been hitting up the karaoke scene recently which I sadly admit has become my guilty pleasure  . These songs are ones I'm particularly fond of blaring out to:
1)Maroon Five "This Love"
2)Bon Jovi "It's My Life"
3)Cold Play "Yellow"
(Sorry, I can't do Jay Chow, though I wish I could.)
Anyways, your thoughts on our unbiased love for karaoke and why. Also, I've found it personally uncomfortable for me when I am doing K with just a group of guys or maybe I'm just overreacting.

lol at the K with a group of guys - i don't think that's an overreaction.
i started liking karaoke when i was abroad - and i realized most normal ppl i met could sing, some very well. I had one friend, who was a songwriter and he could sing very very well. later competed until the top 3 in Singapore Superstar (idol singing show). that got me into it, and i started to enjoy it more - singing in the car and what not.
some songs for me:
Bon Jovi - It's my life (used primarily to get group morale up)
Extreme - More than Words
Aerosmith - Don't Wanna Miss a Thing
K - Only Human (greatest challenge)
Jay Chou (I think many could do at least one jay song, as long as they have the pinyin lyrics)
Z. Chen - Hen Xiang Ni
Richie Ren - du mian de nu hai kan guo lai
Nic Tse, Tank

LOL! Karaoke - a favourite amongst Asians.
I only sing during the group songs, but I've got male friends who'll gladly blast out Jay Chou, Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau - and OMG, I fall in love with their voices....
A guy who can sing - and isn't afraid to do so - is so sexy in my eyes.

You obviously haven't experienced being surrounded by sweaty and drunk guys singing offkey.
Very unsexy.

Actually, I have, and yes, that doesn't do anything for me. But I said earlier, they have to be able to sing.
Otherwise, it's just cringe-worthy and enough to make me leave the room.
the only thing i miss about my ex was his singing voice. he can sound like andy and jacky. he couldn't stand listening to other people sing because they sucked but he really liked my voice. i've been told i sound like sammi, which means i'm usually the one doing the singing and entertaining my friends, and then losing my voice.

You two should record yourselves singing on MP3 and post it online imo.

my friend and i do an awesome "on bended knee" by boyz II men. always a crowd pleaser.
i think for guys, sinatra songs are pretty money.
also, i don't like when they "grade" my performance. look, i fucking rocked and i know it. don't be telling me i got an 83%. you know who gets the 90s and 100s? the tone-deaf screaming banshees. it's like a slap in the face.

I like Sammi too. Do you think you can get away singing in Canto with a not-so-good voice as compared to a Western song? I think that's certainly the case with some artists...

i like karaoke games.
like randomly putting in numbers and singing
whatever pops up.
or when someone is singing a really fast song
and you increase or decrease the tempo.
or increase decrease the tone.
really funny.
i love karaoke. i usually spend 5-6 hours when i go.
and it's more fun when you go with people who
can't sing.
^i actually agree with you there, it's more fun going with tone-deaf people. that's what karaoke is about..having fun. not competing to see who has the best voice. it's also fun to get drunk and try to sing rap songs.

I think I over done every kind of nightlife place by now. I haven't went to Karaoke for a few months already because I'm tired of the same old songs.
My all time favorite would be Boy'z and Twins - Bad habits
I tried to get down some LMF songs, but some of the rapping are over the top fast. Blue October songs like hate me, In to the ocean is too sad and weird but I like it.
And when possible, not all places have it. Red hot chili peppers - Can't stop.
I could do a good Can't take my eyes off you song. Deepens the voice. *ahem*
And I don't like hearing this song anymore because of karaoke, Hotel California.
One word of advice. I would bring someone with a good voice that doesn't mic hog so they can sing with you. Alcohol is a must.
