Why doesn't the Asian community accept Blasians as much as the Black community:confused:

I'm not going to pretend to speak for the "Asian community" (if there is such a thing) - but I'll toss out a few hypotheses...
1.) racism - pure and simple. The elephant in the room I guess. A lot of Asians, particularly from Asia, are just racist and don't like black people, or at the very least have poor stereotyped perceptions of them. Many Asians in the US probably aren't too different. This attitude may be less prevalent in people born/raised here but who knows. Not to say that black people are any less racist against Asians, but there seems to be a history of accepting mixed children into the family (half white, indian, etc...) that doesn't exist with Asians.
2.) stigmatism -along the lines of 1, a lot of half-black/half-asian kids (in vietnam at least) were the product of GI and prostitute unions, so odds were if you were half-anything (particularly black) your mom was a prostitute. This can't really be applied to non-wartorn countries though and doesn't apply to children of modern unions at all.
3.) From personal experience, I've met very very few half-black/half-Asians (maybe 2 or 3) and I don't see them hanging out with/associating with Asians of any sort very often, much less acknowledging their Asian side. Maybe the racism they faced from other asians as a kid left them a little wary and so they have rejected asians? Who knows, a half-black/asian person could answer that.
4.) Perception by others - I think most people that see a half-black/half-asian person probably think that he/she's a black person first. Black people have a lot of variety in the way they look, so they probably get treated more like a black person and may identify more with that. That's just more pure speculation on my part though.

A while back I began reading this book; damn, I wish I could remember the name, but it was about the history of Chinese-Americans, and in one chapter it mentioned how back in the day, in the south and Midwest before the end of the Jim crow codes and such in which disallowed relationships between minority groups and whites, there were alot of cases in where Chinese laborers and African-American women dated, married and started families.
A situation in which, in regard to the Chinese men, was seen as a very viable alternative in lieu of their situation in the south and Midwest where their were very, very few Chinese women in comparison to the number of Chinese men.
Have you heard of this situation:confused:

In this society there is no such thing as someone who is "half black". Obama and Hines Ward are "black". You get the idea.

it wasn't unheard of that Chinese men married black women and poor white women in the late 1800s and early 1900s. there was basically hardly any Chinese women in the US in those days, due to racist immigration laws that specifically limited only Chinese migration. some probably even married Native American women. i don't know if there were any laws governing marriage between Chinese and other non-whites, but for Chinese men marrying poor white women, that was illegal and so their marriage was not legally recognised. sometimes they may go and have the actual marriage ceremony in Mexico. there was also an advantage to marrying a white woman. back then the Chinese were not allowed to own land. white women, on the other hand, could own land.

I think it also has to do with skin tone or color itself. There's prejudice towards darker skinned Asians in general. So even if a Blasian looked Asian enough to make it over the racial purity hurdle there's the issue of nationality, class and skin tone. I agree with 2020's point #1. No one really wants to talk about it.
But honestly, I think there's some misperception that white looking mixed kids all get a free pass. But acceptance in the modern day is statistically more in the hands of a Asian looking white/Asian. Celebrity status can nullify all of the named issues though. For any mixed Asian. Being good looking and bilingual makes a difference as well. As would name... like father is Asian and the kids have the dad's name.

I think along to go with the racism, although white hapas don't all get a get out free card on this either, I think a lot of Asians because race framing with the model minority and just skin tone, think they are above Blacks, but not above Whites. Maybe that's why in some cases Asians might like if only in an exotifying way, white hapas more.

Why doesn't the Asian community accept Blasians as much as the Black community:confused:
In the Black community, if you have "one drop" of blackness, you are black. Even if you DON'T have coarse ("nappy") hair, dark skin, or any other physical feature characteristic to blacks. All you have to do is have one drop.
In most Asian communities (well, at least in Japanese community) if you have one drop of anything else other than Japanese/Korean/whatever, you are not considered to be "one of them".
Get it? It's all about that one drop. With blacks, one drop and you're in. With Asians, one drop and you're out. It's that simple.

You know, and the funny thing is I saw somethinga bout Hines Ward not too long ago and they talked about how he was helping to change some age old perceptions of biracial (particularly black) children in South Korea and I couldn't help but think to myself, they're overplaying his impact over there. No way one person, even if he is a Super Bowl MVP, could change such an old way of doing things and an old way of thinking.

^Yea, totally, but he brought more light to the issue. Which can only help....a little, I guees.
Which isn't saying much, because if someone is really going to tell me that the general Korean populace didn't know that biracial (especially black) children don't have it rougher than the average Korean person, I'll name them a liar.

Basically the only blasians celebrated in Korea are celebrities. It's not changing perceptions about blasians in general, just about blasians who are famous. And Koreans really like famous people anyway...

Well, I'm blasian and I get this sort of racism all the time from Asians. BUT also from black people as well. i've had black people tell me i wasn't black. and asian people tell me i wasn't really asian. but i also feel strange when someone tells me "you're sooo asian" or whatever. but with my family, the dark skinned side is really my filipino side and NOT my black (west indian) side who tend to be lighter. I think because my mom is the anomaly in her family and is very light skinned, people expect me to be lighter. the lighter you are the more accepting the asian race will be. but then again, apl.de.ap (allen pineda) from the black eyed peas is blasian, speaks tagalog, grew up in the philippines, then was adopted at 14 and came to the US. he is widely accepted by filipinos. but of course, he's famous....haha

I'm Japanese and I feel that things are changing, slowly but surely to a point where mixed children will be viewed as being an asset as opposed to being a liability. Why have boring rusty Iron when you can have a thousand different alloys steel? Just look at America, blacks have come so far in such a short period of time. In 40 years they go from the bottom of their society to being the best athletes in America, and the world. Barack Obama may be the most powerful "non-white" person that has ever walked the earth. I've been dating a black woman in Okinawa for 2 years and I want to marry her so badly. She's so hot, smart, and respectful of my culture. I met her family and the stereotypes were so wrong... three of her brothers go to Ivy league schools and her father is a Physicist. They listen to Smooth Jazz ... not hip hop and are polite. What I've learned is just not to judge people until I know them. If I just walked past her because she was black... I may have missed out on the most wonderful woman I have ever known!!! Do you all understand that? I hope so. Remember you can't judge a book by its cover. SO TRUE.
