The family that beats a robber together...
Police arrive in time to save suspect from being whacked with shovel

HINESVILLE, Ga. - A robbery suspect was rescued by officers after his intended victims disarmed him, beat him with a metal broomstick and were about to whack him with a shovel, authorities said.

Police officers who were summoned to the home late Tuesday said they found the suspect, identified as Darrel Rolle, 27, lying on the living-room floor as Wu Ni's family held him down.

"He was so exhausted, we had to help him walk to the patrol car," Sheriff's Deputy Brian Barnes said.

Ni, a restaurant cook, told officers that he, his wife, his parents and other family members were returning to the home when he was confronted in the master bedroom by a man pointing a gun and shouting, "Give me the money!"

Ni said the man forced him to his knees and was taking cash from another family member when Ni grabbed his arm and took the gun away.

But that was just the start of the melee. According to the police report, Ni's parents and a cousin jumped on Rolle, and the combatants moved to the living room, where Ni's wife, Rong Lin, pummeled Rolle with a metal broomstick.

When the broomstick bent, Rong Lin got a shovel from the back yard, but Barnes and a second officer arrived before Rolle could get hit with the shovel, authorities said.

"When we walked into the living room, the family let Rolle go," Barnes said. "We were able to cuff him without incident."

The gun turned out to be a pellet gun, police said.

Scratches, cuts, bites
Rolle was treated at a hospital for scratches and a bite on his ear and then taken to jail. He was charged with armed robbery, burglary and battery. Wu Ni was treated at the scene for cuts and a bite on his arm.

Hinesville police could not say Thursday whether Rolle had an attorney.

I'm sure Darrel Rolle and his lawyer will be filing a civil suit.

So the family is in for some legal expenses.

Maybe his lazy ass will get a job like everyone else and then he won't need to get beaten down by his clearly hazardous job occupation, LOSER!

I'm starting to think other people should have been beat with a bendable metal stick.

I think that defending yourself and your folks when you believe a gun wielding robber is in your home is pretty justable for an old fashion beat down.

cool

lol fuck yeah

one of my dad's coworkers had a similar story. he hit this burglar who was trying to steal his TV across the back with a wooden beam. burglar sued, and won.

Your opinion can't prevent a law suit. The robber will claim the family went to extreme and that he had given up yet the still beat him, something like that.

The guy's a robber why wouldn't he try the legal way to steal money from people now that the illegal way failed.

He'll probably fail in court as well but I'll still bet he's going to try.

They should buy broomsticks with better metal.

they make brooms with metal handles????

anyway, judging from past and recent insane lawsuits, ie. coffee too hot, eating food made me fat, the $65 mil suit, and a husband suing his wife because they got into an accident while she was driving, the robber suing the family would not be surprising.

he got what he deserved though. nothing like a good chinese beat down.

a good ending, but dangerous. a vietnamese man in concord tried to do that a few years back - steal the gun while his home was being robbed with his whole family in the house - he unfortunately escalated the situation by doing so and was shot to death.

Yeh. California's still yet to find its "Happy Median" in things.

We're on the furthest left coast of the country, so some people think we should be as far left as possible. It's driving the sane people crazy.

It's going out of it's way to go more extreme left. The era of people having stable jobs and working for an employer for life in the USA are long gone and many people are trying to migrate to areas that are more in line with their values are beliefs. Numerous people have moved away from California because of culture there, and others will move to California because the culture benefits their lifestyle choices.

i don't know about all the other lawsuits, but i think that hot coffee suit was less frivolous than most people think. the coffee was so hot the lady suffered 3rd degree burns. it was much hotter than it really needs to be. and all she was doing was trying to get the lid off the coffee cup to pour sugar in. the car was parked and she was sitting in the passenger seat. so really, she wasn't doing anything stupid - just trying to get the lid off her coffee cup. i think normally, spilling hot coffee on yourself shouldn't give you 3rd degree burns.

SWK's right. Here's more info about the coffee suit. http://www.centerjd.org/free/mythbusters-free/MB_mcdonalds.htm

It wasn't a frivolous suit.

And even when people file frivolous lawsuits, they usually don't win. Usually they're ridiculed in the press, like the judge in DC suing the Korean family over his pants.

He's going to lose that case and pretty much all respect anyone ever had for him.
