I read on her website that her mom, or someone related to her mom is Indonesian. Does this qualify her as hapa like Dean Cain and the woman from the Superman-esqe show who's last name starts w/ "K"? I like her music regardless.

She's part Indonesian-Dutch, so that would make her part Eurasian? I'm not sure if the term "hapa" only applies to mixed Americans...

And Kristen Kruek is the girl from Smallville...and if I rememebr correctly, she's Canadian and Chinese.

Yeah! Silly Canadians. :P

Sorry, she's part white Canadian, but I didn't know what her exact ethnic background is...till now. She's part Dutch then...like Michelle Branch. :)

Maybe it's just genetic how mixed offspring turns out. "Asian" attributes might be more recessive than "White" attributes, so yeah, celebs like Kristin Kruek have that Asian complexion and a hint of the Asian structure, but remain very fair/light skinned and American as well. I guess..

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Whether or not a Hapa's features are "Asian enough" usually has more to do with the viewer's biases than anything else (and the last time I checked, Asian attributes like dark hair and eyes are dominant traits). My features come from both my mother and my father, but because I look somewhat Asian most people assume that I am wholly Asian. My twin sister also looks like both parents, yet most people assume that she's White (even though her skin is a darker shade of yellow than mine) or Hispanic.

If that's your pic in your avatar, then I must say that you could probably pass for either white or asian. You've got dark hair and small eyes, which some white people (particularly "ethnic" whites such as Italians, Greeks, Jews, etc.) have, but you also have the typical asian traits of dark hair and small eyes.

Anyway, about michelle branch, either way it goes she's definitely good-looking-but like i said i just thought she was italian or something when i saw her, never thought she was part-asian.
