This is a bit late, but I thought it might still be of interest, as table tennis has been an Asian-dominated (particularly by the Chinese) sport

China swept the five events, and Wang Liqin won his third Men's Singles title, only the 2nd player to do so. He won in the finals over Ma Lin, who was ranked #1 in the world at the time, and has reached the World Championship final 3 times, but has never won it (losing to Wang two of those times). It's terrible that shortly after the match, Ma was informed that
On the women's side, there have been no European medalists in Women's Singles since 1993, and that continued this year. 18-year old Guo Yue won that title, to be youngest World Champion ever. For USA, Wang Chen (who was formerly #4 in the world while playing for China) reached the quarterfinals, before losing to Guo.
