The Kiwi crowd can correct me on this but Asians aren't really associated with the model minority stereotype as it is in USA. It's more of a "they're swarming us and gonna take over" mentality. Asians are really the only non-white immigrants and the white colonial view of them is more akin to the reigning attitude towards Mexican immigration to the US.

Y'know, I'd like to see one time - just one time - where someone prominent says something like that and then follows it up with, "Yeah, I said that and I don't regret it." Nobody buys the fake remorse.

The police culture in NZ, and especially the old cops are literally like Harvey Keitels character in "The Bad Lieutenant"
Several have been charged with rape not once but twice... http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/423466/255302
Looks like it'll be swept under the carpet because the loser "apologised"... I think he should be instantly dismissed without pay.
Don't know if you guys know this but there is an anti-race hate group operating in NZ and Australia http://www.fightdemback.org/

niiiiiiiice. well that just instantly conjured up a scene i was letting fade away. LET ME SEE YOUR ASSSSS!
Would you say it's a bit different between islands - the cops, I mean? I wasn't too impressed with Auckland as a place to live overall. It might have been the streets lined with Thai massage parlours.
Christchurch, though rather bizarre, seems a bit more laid back. But I think it might drive my husband nuts living with that many Koreans around.

 Hahaha sorry
I think the police culture is probably worse in Christchurch than it is anywhere else in NZ.
Oh and just to update the story about the corrupt cops

A 37 year old suddenly drops dead after giving the media access to the group sex videotape with the convicted rapist cop and how handy it was of the police to confirm that it was "not suspicious" ... yeah right. Smells of payback to me.
