there must be a lot of angry people in Korea right now, because Miss Japan won the crown and Miss Korea came in at third runner-up (fourth place).
Miss Japan - Miss Universe 2007 (http://www.missuniverse.com/delegates/2007/files/JP.html)
Miss Korea (http://www.missuniverse.com/delegates/2007/files/KR.html)
this is the second time Japan won. the last time was 1959.

Miss Kazakhstan (http://www.missuniverse.com/delegates/2007/files/KZ-photo-swim.html) is pretty hot. And very Asian looking.

agree. of the five finalists, i thought miss korea was gonna win it. watching on tv, compared to miss korea, i noticed miss japan has kind of a broad, heavy jaw, almost horse-like.
god damn, miss china looks like she's 5 years old, and miss puerto rico looks like a hooker.
i like miss norway and panama...and miss norway looks waaaay asian...weird

am i the only one who thinks Miss Japan and Miss Korea look like the same girl? but Miss Korea has a porn star name (Honey Lee), so that's either a positive or a negative, depending on who you ask.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in a bilingual and bicultural family in Oslo, Norway. I'm half Norwegian and half Filipino. My mom is Filipino (with Chinese blood as well) and my dad is Norwegian. Growing up with two cultures has helped to shape my identity and made me the woman I am now, secure and confident with the thought that I'm able to relate to both races as well as their cultures. My parents got divorced when I was 3. They have both remarried. I grew up with my mother and my stepfather, but I have a very close relationship with my father as well. I have a younger brother (10) whom I adore so much, a stepbrother (19) who looks up to me and a stepsister (29) whom I look up to.
^yep, she's a cute little number

As for cheating, I wonder what they have to say on the subject of plastic surgery? Because it looks like Miss Korea got a nose job.

Agreed. While Miss Japan isn't unfortunate looking by any standards, I've seen better-lookin Asian women on the streets. I wouldn't be surprised if both Miss Norway and Miss Kazakhstan are of East Asian blood/descent; I think they're prettier than Miss Japan and Miss Korea.

i'm no expert, but i think these contestants had to work on being graceful and speaking well, and all that stuff. in other words, cheesy as it sounds, i don't think the competition is purely based on looks. also, most of these women are statuesque (tall) and very skinny. i think it's rare to see Asian women just on the streets that look like that. i personally think that most of the contestants look very good. but i still think that, at least from the pictures, Miss Korea and Miss Japan look like the same person.

Oh. Yeah definitely. But I was just talkin' about the face. Miss Japan and Miss Korea are both very cute, but I don't think I'd give them a second glance on a summer day at the park or on campus when beautiful women abound. And according to the stats they're both like 5'7" - 5'9", which may be above average but hardly rare or considered tall even for Asian women.

Does anyone find it wholly ironic Miss Israel has blond hair and the national costume looks like some european debutante dresS?
Greece's national costume looks like those people working at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas- oh the irony.
The national costumes REALLY range from really slutty and WTF is this to really classy and wow.

good, yes. surpassing others in the universe, not so much. i'm thinking trump's pageant brand isn't drawing them in like it used to. if you're super hot and have all those extremely practical and valuable pageant skills you can probably make more money elsewhere then being part of the Miss ____ franchise.
i can see the winner make some dough and getting some recognition but the expense to win ratio must be dreadfully low for the other 99%.

I think the main talent these women need to have is the ability to walk on cue and stand still while smiling.
Which...the American contestant couldn't do.

i watched the video interviews for some of the contestants on www.missuniverse.com. there's really a big difference between the way Miss Japan spoke and the way Miss Korea spoke. Miss Japan really spoke much better, and in a more natural manner. on the other hand, Miss Korea sounded like you were talking to an 8-year old asking her what she wants to do when she grows up. (and Miss China sounded like she was being interviewed for a job.)

As usual the Korean chick is much hotter than the Japanese chick.

i didn't watch it, but looking at pictures, miss japan is a walking skeleton, miss china needs a new makeup artist, miss korea or miss kazakhstan should have won if it was based on looks (HAHAHAHAHAH), the latinas looked the same, the white girls looked busted, and the black girls were cute but not pretty.
