I recently got into a discussion with a friend of mine who said almost all girls in Asia detest the body of a guy which was carved out of stone. He further explained that they would rather have someone who's strong but "soft" compared to someone that feels like a piece of rock. IE: Not "ripped" like Bruce Lee.

My mom, being an immigrant, seems to harbor this same type of mentality along with many 1.5 gen Asian girls. I've been hitting the weights pretty hard and when I went out with my mom for Mother's Day this past week, she noticed something different. Her suspicions were confirmed when I was holding the door for her at a restaurant and she grabbed my arm (because I was going into the wrong door) and she freaked out, exclaiming that my arm "feels like a piece of rock. Almost unbendable." Now, keep in mind that when I was in high school, I would buy magazines such as "Muscle and Fitness" which caters to professional bodybuilders with a body type of Arnold. I bought the magazines not because I wanted to look like that but rather to get some exercise suggestions. Now, whenever she thinks of me pounding the weights, she thinks I'm trying to get massive which is not the case.

However, I've noticed that Asian American girls would rather have someone that looks like a model on the cover of Men's Fitness rather than someone who's just strong.

I know everyone's tastes on this subject changes from person to person but I'm wondering what the "general" consensus is. I don't mind if Asian guys speak up as long as they can reference an Asian female's opinion about it.

And please no psychological evaluations of me regarding this topic. If you must know, I'm not working out just to impress women but rather a personal choice. During my younger 20s, my eating habits wasn't the best which caused my energy level to hit rock bottom. Being healthy has given me more energy and thus, more desire to improve myself. This topic was merely started out of curiosity to what my friend was saying.

oh man....when i first saw the title i thought what SHAPE we prefer, like square, round, triangle.

umm.....i don't like bony guys. like if you hug them it hurts you, or if you lay on them or vice versa, it just doesn't feel right. i like muscles...especially in the arms. not bulging, which i think is GROSS, but cut. that's just really sexy to me. oh and i also like to stare at guys' thighs and legs, if i can see them. they have to have a shape to them or else they're just like tree trunks and that's not sexy. don't care too much about the ab area though.

i also like to feel a little bit of substance when i give a massage. you have to have something to knead, to squeeze. i tried to massage the above-mentioned bony guy and i kept thinking i was hurting him cuz everywhere i touched i felt bone. it was weird.

LOL, god! we're not pieces of meat for you to oogle at.

oh and i think the general consensus for american girls is a cut man, while for those in asia it's more of a slender guy...but slowly with western influences it's starting to change.

Just look like Rain? I'm lost.

I started growing the hair but it's not working out for me.

I'm more of a face person, but prefer that the guy look like he's working out (meaning fit), though I don't like guys who are too muscular/"big." Though the nicer the face, the more willing that I'm going to not care as much (see Kaneshiro, Takeshi).

I prefer a guy who is a big meatier or bigger, by muscle and I don't a little bit of cushion. I like the muscle thing, but I don't want it to be all like rock-hard. And I need the junk in that trunk. Asian guys look amazingly great with cut/toned bodies. Daniel Dae Kim and Yul Kwon are #$@#$#@ amazing. I think I'd break a lot of the men here in half in Taiwan because of my ass.

The girls here love guys who are slender and cute. Like Rain (but he's pretty cut and has a great body) or the lollipop (literally) boy bands.

I'd like Rain with a bit more weight and a ghetto booty.

Do you kiss your guns in the mirror every morning? I would. I'm going to lift weights specifically so I stay stronger than my son for as long as you can. Everything I need to know about having boys I learned from Malcolm in the Middle and if he wants anything he's going to have to beat me at arm wrestling first.

.....your husband don't have a hairy back like Malcolm's dad did, right?

If you can get that on tape, I'd paypal you to see it. LOL

Kim's son: "Mom can I take the car out tonight? I have a date!"

Kim (shoves everything off the kitchen table and rolls up her sleeve): "You know the answer, let's have at it."

Kim's son: "Awww, mom. Forget it, I'll take the bus."

As long as the camera man is showing you only from the waist up, Hubies, we don't need to know you're not wearing pants on camera.

I'll only do that when I can crush a walnut with my rectum.
