Well as you can see, I'm an AfAm and so I hope you'all find it ok for me to be here interaction amongst you'all, and if you were wonder... the reason that I've decided to become a member of this site is because of lately I've been trying to diversify my on line forum interaction from that of just AfAm sites to a variety of sites covering all types of demographics and I've yet to become a member to an Asian one.

I've searched around for a good one to join and in my journey I was somewhat disappointed by alot of what I found on these other Asian sites in regards to those sites member's almost droneish lynch mob perceptions of blacks and other groups, but upon observing the interactions on this site I've noticed that the members here are a bit to alot more sensible toward the issues that come across around here.

I consider myself to be very multi demographic minded and understanding and fair in judgment... though I warn that I am very outspoken and don't enjoy fluffing my responses. I think I'll get along with most and of those I don't I'm sure you'll respect me as a worthy adversary and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all very well, very soon. Peace!!

I'm always wary of non-Asians of either gender joining the site but I have to say: good intro. Better than the boring "I love you Asians!" crap we've had lately.

You earned karma for that. Means your rep power will go up. Welcome.

From Delaware, eh?

Maybe you can inform me about something that puzzled me. Has Delaware been gaining population from folks from up north, like Boston?

I was recently talking to a Black from Boston about demographic (racial and socioeconomic) shifts (like Blacks moving from South Central L.A. to Riverside and San Berdoo). And he mentioned people moving to Delaware. I wasn't able to ask him if he was referring to African Amer.s or other groups, as well.

Well, I'm not quite sure what you are exactly asking of me, so I'll take a chance and guess that you are asking if I know if weather or not alot of blacks are moving to Delaware from locations north of the state. If this is what you're asking me to give you knowledge of, the answer is yes; I have noticed such a heavy migration taking place.

Blacks are everywhere in relatively large numbers in Delaware. Especially in Kent and New Castle counties, the two largest of the states 3 counties. Wilmington, the states largest city by far... is majoritively black with them making up something like a 60% majority.

I live the the Historical Wilmington Suburban town of New Castle Township and it is or nearly so majoritively black as well with a large middle class black community making up the majority of its population. Dover, the states capital, and Newark the states second largest city and home to the University of Delaware also have very large and rapidly growing black populations as well.

Most of this growth into the state is primarily coming from a high migration of blacks into the state from major urban area in South-eastern PA... primarily Philadelphia and Chester, NJ and New York State, primarily New York City. I, myself, am originally from the Buffalo, NY area and came here to Delaware about 7 years ago. Most blacks who come here are middle and upper class working families who have migrated out of the big northern cities to excape the violence and general craziness in which have consumed many of them.

Delaware provides a much calmer multi ethnic atmosphere in where most everyone get along, the schools are pretty good, the job market is one of the best in the nation as well as the provisions of equal opportunities. Most neighborhoods are pretty racially mixed, and of lately I've been seeing lots of Asians moving here. Delaware has more Asian man/Black women couples than I've ever seen anywhere else in this nation before.

As you know that mix is not to common so I find it be kind of an pleasant surprise. It shows a greater level of the breaking down of staunch racial barriers in this nation, but over all... Delaware has ALOT of interracial coupling of all types.

I hope this helped to answer your question.

Yes, that's it! Thanks. This clarifies what I thought I heard. The Bostonian I was talking to now lives in New York City (Brooklyn?), so I guess he was refering to blacks from NYC moving to DE.

That'd make a great headline! "Delaware leads the nation in AM/BW!" (I wonder how that could be tested and confirmed.)
Hey, maybe Joe Biden could use that as part of his campaign rhetoric.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for AM/BW the next time I passing through on I-95, and pull off to visit the Borders bookstore.
