Who likes dancing? My favorite kind is swing dancing!

I've been on again/off again taking dance classes at a local junior college (I'm getting all ambiguous in the hopes of hiding my two left feet, yet my love of trying to learn how to move on the floor correctly).

Helps me appreciate music and beats a lot more, that's for sure since I couldn't carry a tune even if it were strapped to my back.

oohh.....here in chicago, they have this thing called "summer dance" and basically they teach you different steps and then you get to dance the rest of the night. and this all happens outside, under the stars. it's free too!!! it starts next month and i can't wait! oh and i will be forcing the bf to go too!!! LOL

They used to have Sunday sessions of swing dance happening at the Bandstand in Golden Gate Park (near the De Young Museum)

Bands would play, and certain pro/am swing dance teachers would show people of all skill levels how to dance. It was awesome fun, but I'm not sure what's up now that there's construction work all around that area.

And a lot of latin music: Salsa, merengue, bachata, and cumbia.

Where I'm from, there's a unique variation of "freak dancing" that is both elegant and powerful. I don't know the name of it off hand but it's awesome.

i was dating this latina in college and she kept pushing me to take salsa dancing with her but never got around to it. should give it a try.

^yeah salsa's valuable in terms of how often it comes up in social gatherings, since it's not soo old and stuffy like a waltz, yet not dirty and ghetto like grinding, ppl play it all the time. plus is easy to learn the basics and not look bad dancing.

Sure, I appreciate dancing with my friends as much as the next guy, but on a bad night, where I have to play hot potatoe and jump from friend to friend on the floor, craptastic. My feet hurt.
