Mom's pretty a traditional Chinese mom, as far as I'm concerned.

She whaps me upside the head when I get her gifts, but she puts them aside and looks at them occasionally when she thinks I'm not looking, or I hear about her using/wearing what I give her.

Thinking it's time to whip up some dinner for her. Invite her and dad over, cook a nice Italian dinner, and leave them in front of the television with AMC on with some red wine. Then I get to drive them home and do the dishes afterwards.

Mom enjoyed dinner and cuddle time with dad over the TV. Glad the housemates were all out doin' mother/daughter stuffs all day.

ok so the plan didn't work. bought mom a picture collage thingy and a card, dropped off a card i dug up in the house for the stepmom, and my mom spent most of the day helping my sister move her stuff back from school. will be taking them out to dinner later in the week, hopefully.

yeah, we're pretty crappy kids.

A trip to the cemetery.
A dozen roses in a vase.
Three bows from two children and their mother at the foot of the "resting place" of the late paw paw.
And happy and sad thoughts from her five sisters and two brothers scattered across the state.

^Not that it's a happy thing but there's a bit of comfort in knowing we weren't the only one spending Mother's Day in the cemetary. That's the kicker for me. Taking the little guy to see both grandmas means two sets of flowers to the same cemetary. But, that's his fate. Nothing I can do to change that.
