yes/no to what degree, which ways?
mm....seeing as my bf will always make a ton more than me and is highly experienced and very good in making financial decisions, he will take care of the finances. however...this does NOT mean that he's the head of the household. my business math professor said it's not a man vs. woman thing.....it's a WHOEVER knows how to do and won't screw up thing.
i can balance my checkbook but i can't manage my money at all. i live from paycheck to paycheck. it's horrible.

It's such a dead concept to me. It seems a household works better with both people pitching-in.

We stopped trying to balance our checkbook to the penny. It's hard to keep up with the way checks get paid and funds come-in.
We just pay attention to the damn mortgage.
It's funny that my name comes first on a lot of legal documents. My wife is usually the one to tell me what and where we need to be on financial things. And she always organizes the tax prep stuff.

What about f.ex. your parents? Is this a newer phenomena, or something that has gone on in your family for generations?
Personally, my father is still "head of house" though you can be sure my mother is no pushover and gets her point across too.
Till now in every house man is the head. Nowadays man and woman have come to an equal level so women also can the head of the house.

I feel that there should be no head. There should be mutual understanding and each one should be free to take his/her decision. But if one is taking a wrong decision thenthe other one should prevent him/her from dong so. We no more live in a dictator regime........

My dad usually lets my mom deal with the finances in our family, he is actually competent in finances, its just that he's way too busy with his work projects and just needs a break when he gets home. Nowadays my mom spends most of her time doing the bills, and that's just the way our family's been.
They have one big joint account and two smaller seperate accounts. I think they each put 75% of their earnings into the big account and the rest in their smaller accounts as spending money, although I'm not 100% sure.
