I disagree-strongly. Any one socialize with other hapas much would know what I am talking about. I for one am a hapa who enjoys all races and ethnic groups, even mixed ones. Have you ever heard full-blooded asians say this before about hapas? Why do you think they would make such a statement?

I, as a hapa, having grown up with hapas, have definitely heard from those same hapas, that they believe they are superior to monoracial people. "Best of both worlds," and all that. My own mother told me I was smart like an Asian, artistic and creative like a caucasian.
I believe that being told stuff like that while you are growing up, and not getting a reality check, definitely leads to a mentality of superiority.
Edit: also, have you heard of the Eurasian Beauty Myth? Or the belief held that mixed race people are just generally better looking? One more thing to lead to feelings of superiority.

I second that, and used to be one who had a superiority complex. Whether or not it's simply a phase, I don't know, but my father telling me that I was better than both whites and Koreans probably also had something to do with it...

Hapa superiority is just another form of racial supremacy no different than nordicism, White Supremacy, East-Asian supremacy or whatever.

But our supremacy is better, cuz we're the best of two or more supremacies (is that a word? It is now! The motherfucking SUPREMEST WORD).

There are always ways to bring down the potential superiority complexes of hapas who think they are the best of both worlds ... Perhaps, suggest that their father was aggressive enough to be successful in the military, drunk enough not to feel the pain of the bullets, stupid enough to blindly follow orders without question, dedicated enough to be blindly jingoistic ... while their mothers were attractive enough to sell themselves for sex, resourceful enough to gain citizenship in a foreign land, adaptable enough to communicate with the foreign soldiers, etc. ?
i'm full chinese and born in chicago. i've always considered myself to have the best of both worlds. so i can't claim this now?
i have 6 hapa cousins...i think they're trying to take over the family.

I have only in my life heard of 1 hapa stating that he was better - he also had to go through psych eval and did not pass so well, so hah!!! He was raised exclusively by a white (racist) mother in a white (racist) country. He did it in an attempt to try and put others down in order to feel better and identify himself. He not only was racist against pure blooded (anything but white) but was even racist against hapas.
(My ex.) We fought this was one of our main issues, we divorced. I wasn't about to let my son be raised in the psycho racist way that he was trying to do. I got custody - thank God!
I have not heard any other hapas in my life look down on pure blooded asians. (I have been around...I won't even bother telling my age! both in Hawaii, and on the mainland) I think this is in the minority who are like this - please anyone else who has experienced differently, respond to this forum, as it is an issue I had never heard of before! I heard of asians and caucasians not accepting hapas, but the other way around? WOW- they must be very confused people, as my psycho ex.

wow fuck you craig, you just offended a shit ton of people, may you should think about your own supremacy (or lack there of)
just because your monoracial doesnt make you any better then the bi racial happa that thinks there any better.
this is why i hate coming into the happa section. stop seperating yourselfs with stupid supremist threads or feelings of not belonging etc. cant you just be you ? if it doesnt work to be happa then pick a side, asian or other. ive chosen to just be asian due to the stupidtiy i hear out of happas.

well to say that hapas whine isnt near as offensive as calling there mothers whores or there fathers drunks, and i never said they were stupid for being hapas, i said the whining is stupid.
i could easily say that your mother makes my shoes in a sweat shop.
your father is good enough to move to this country to clean my laundry.
but i wouldnt do that. i dont see why you would need to say somthing like this, what it says to me is that he sees himself to be better then hapas due to his monorace.
im "hapa"myself.
im on the other hand though. my mother is white my father is japanese.
im not a product of military occupency and im still offended by it.

I believe the intent of Craig's post was how to take the piss out of hapas with superiority complexes. It seems to be working beautifully.
Also, nice back peddle on "I didn't call hapas stupid!" Uh, yeah, our discussion threads are whining and stupid. Thank you. I will in no way take that as an insult.

Calm down there folks!
Back to the topic at hand, maybe superiority complex is overemphasizing what I meant when I said that. It's not really a belief that asians or whites are inferior per say, only that one, by virtue of his or her mixed ancestry is somehow more "special" or automatically more "multicultral" than someone who is monoracial. Others like to see themselves as the personification of world peace, as their parents who come from two different races were able to "see past cultural differences" and let love prevail. Frankly I am tired of hearing about that, it's trite, and it's boring. It might interest some people and other hapas who are "looking to fit in" or "looking for someone like them," which is why if you take a walk to any of the hapa forums out there, you'll see plenty of hapas who just want to talk about themselves. And post pictures... And talk about Kristin Kreuk... Or start talking about how we shouldn't marry monoracials lest our race die out.... Or claiming ancestry from 16 seperate countries... Seriously, once you've heard it once, you've heard it enough. But some people like that, so go for it if that's your bag.

I will say this for the benefit of the doubt - that it may be easier for hapas to stereotype and generalize one or more of the cultures they have background in.
Understanding, that they may have only a limited view, coming from a smaller community, and isolated, etc. Also, there in my opinion has not been set a standard by anyone that I know concerning what is stereotype, and what is cultural norm. (If anyone has input on this ? please I would like feedback under the thread of Stereotypes and generalities. )
I could see how a misplaced attempt to understand the hapa side of ones "Cultural norm/phenomenas" could easily be seen as stereotypical, and thus lead to feelings of concern about superiority complexes, etc.

all the hapa guys i've encountered have a superiority complex and/or have a chip on their shoulder. i've never gotten along with any hapa guys that i've met. but then again, i'm a dick with a superiority complex. the two never a good mix.
hapa women, i get along with them just fine.

Must be in your neck of the woods? I have 2 brothers who get along fine with everyone, incl. full blood asians, 1 gen, etc. Course they have background in Hawaii, so it is diff. there, diff. viewpoint, more asians, etc.

Of course, though when I was younger, it was more important, as I get older and older and older, it becomes less so, and I become more proud of who I am as a person, what I've done, become, my personal character, etc.

Those who think that they are superior to asians usually feel inferior to whites.

1) A superiority complex isn't about feeling superior to Asians, it's about feeling superior to everyone.
2) White people who feel superior to Asians don't feel inferior to Whites.
3) I'd also argue that Black people who feel superior to Asians probably don't feel inferior to Whites.
I don't know where your statement came from, and you need to clarify what you meant.

Look up in the dictionary, all right? Superiority complex refers to a subconscious neurotic mechanism of compensation developed by the individual as a result of feelings of inferiority. To begin with, there is no superiority complex without subconscious inferiority.

The kingdom of Hawaii used to be all one race. Sadly that one race is losing its culture due to the invasion of other races. While it might "work", it's sad to think about what it took to get that.
Second, I, having never been to Hawaii, don't know what that's like, and I also don't understand what you mean by "work". Do you mean that there isn't any racism, and that the streets are paved with candy?
hehe...
We need to learn to exist in the current format of the US, not wait around for the eons it will take for all the minorities to breed themselves out of existence.

LOL, months later...
Okay fine, but that still doesn't mean that hapas who have a superiority complex feel superior to Asians and inferior to whites. I'd argue that the inferiority (if it is indeed necessary) is felt towards both Asians and Whites, and that this is compensated by projecting an aura of superiority over both.

IMHO the following countries are full of hapas and mixed-race people, but I am mentioning it to get into the political aspect of this concept of "mixed race as superior to full-blooded Asians."
Before I do, the Chinese have about 2000 years of ethnic superiority, despite the fact that a couple of Central Asian nomadic tribes went on to become Mongols, Koreas and eventually Japanese.
China and the Sinitic peoples are one of the largest group of racial admixture.
Second in size are the Indians of subcontinental India, whose people range from white Aryans to black Dravidians, and a large symphony of racial mixing spreading over 3000 years.
I have a background up on my computer from Kollywood of a famous Kerala actress (a large 5'7 woman with thunder thighs, but it'd be sexist to mention her biggest assets) and a group of South Asian dancers. Among the dozen performers in the photo, I can see the effect of Moghul harems, the establishment of trade ties with China, and even vague evidence that Alexander the Great reached the Mahabharat pan-empire.
IMHO American First Nations people show evidence of racial admixture going back to just before the Aryans started to run around the Hindu Kush over 3200 years ago. Compare the standard 1890s picture of a group of Cherokee natives with a recent picture of an Afghani family. I am sure you'll see more similarities than differences. Make your conclusions about where American Indians actually came from. This may upset the cultural superiority of First Nations people who claim to have been in America since time immemorial. The evidence says Central Asian are the most widely travelled of all people for almost four millenia.
Overall, hapas who have a superiority complex would only have the best of both worlds if they are able to fit in either of them. If actor Dean cain is any indication, then he doesn't have a superiority complex since he is in denial of his Asian heritage.
Finally, the only inferiority complex I suffer as a full-blooded Japanese is my small manhood. Apart from that, my superiority complex is very simple indeed. :P
