i basically make it a rule to watch superhero movies, even the animated ones. i watched Daredevil even though i don't like either Daredevil the character or whats-his-name that played Daredevil. so i'll probably watch this movie even though i think Nicholas Cage is only good in comedies. but i do like Ghost Rider and used to collect the 90's revival version of the comic book.
A few scenes of this movie was made in the back alley right behind the building I work. The filming crew actually setup their trailers in the parking spaces right in front of my building during their shooting in Melbourne. I talked to one of the female crews about being an extra in the movie, and she asked me if I was with an agency and I said no, and then she said I couldn't be an extra then ...

I'm pretty sure this will end up being a comedy no matter what.

Somehow this looks like it's gonna suck, some franchises simply weren't meant to be adapted to real life, and when you do, horrible things happen.

this movie looks gawdawful. plus, i'd have a hard time getting over the fact that nick's an asiaphile. count me out on this one.

I hate the fact how he wants to be every super hero out there. First Superman, then I think he was vying for the part of Iron Man, and now this.

Well, he decided to name his son Kal-El....already dooming him to wedgies and swirlies the rest of his natural life. Hell, I'm only 5'4 and if the kid was taller than me, I'd still beat his ass for being named Kal-El.

Nicolas Cage is an enormous comic book fan. He owns a multi million dollar vintage comic collection that has action comics #1 and other books. He auctioned a few off on Heritage a few years ago. I think that explains his fascination with playing comic book heros. Oh and his stage name "Cage" is from Luke Cage..another comic character that he had changed from Coppola.

Can't someone sit this guy down and explain to him that he doesn't look like ANY of these characters? I mean, Luke Cage is black for god's sake. I suppose he wants to play him too.

Checked it out last night. Not Spider-Man level, nor Superman Returns level, which I hated with a passion. A fun movie for the most part, as the Ghost Rider comics were created in the 1970's, so the campy aspect was basically the norm. Eva Mendes seemed to be there just to kiss Cage, and show off her giant cleavage.

Is he though? Sure he married a Korean chick, but his ex wives were white, no?

I read that he met her when she was his waitress at a Japanese restaurant.

saw this last week on Friday. the writing was awful, i thought, and some lines were kind of cheesy. the effects were pretty cool, but nothing special that you wouldn't see in many sci-fi or superhero movies. but Eva Mendes has a nice ass and that's a plus. i wish she got naked in the movie.
i also saw the trailers for the Fantastic Four sequel and Spider-Man 3. both look nice. Silver Surfer looked very obviously CG, but he still looked like a badass.

Saw it on DVD.
Disappointments:
As bad ass as the villains were, they met such sucky endings.
This movie wasn't "dark" enough.
Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles was weak.
The sort-of comedy/romance made the move too light.
