Heard this on the radio. Maybe somebody can confirm:
Apparently New York subways have a little problem with train delays due to sick passengers from time to time.
Many times it's caused by passengers who faint because of not eating right. In fact, crash dieters are apart of this problem. :frown:
Geez, with all the people sneaking on food to public transit, would it hurt just to pack a hoe-hoe in the pocket and munch it down while waiting to get to one's destination?

One time some asshole reported a sleeping bum as a sick passenger.
I have never seen anyone faint in the subway. Not once in my 8 years of commuting here. Seen some people throwing up from a crazy night out, but we just move cars, not delay the entire train.

Okay, here's a version of the story from the IHT (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/01/02/america/NA_GEN_US_Subway_Delays.php):
NEW YORK: Passengers who faint because they are dieting too much are among the top causes of subway delays, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
After track work and signal problems, ill passengers were among the main reasons for subway disruptions between October 2005 and October 2006, according to an analysis of MTA statistics, the AM New York newspaper reported Tuesday.
In all the years of riding BART, I don't think I've ever witnessed a sick passenger.
If they faint, that's probably one thing, but if they are barfy, they should be able to exit the train at the next stop and use the station bathroom. Unfortunately, a few of the BART station bathrooms would also make you barfy. :frown:

I remember one time on our rapid transit Skytrain, some drunk teenaged girl projectile vomiting cos she couldn't hold her liquor.
She was mortified.
I nearly bust my guts LMAO.
