View Full Version : How "quirky" is too quirky when it comes to a date?

Lots of people do the "coffee meet" as a first contact but that can get kind of boring after a while. The atmosphere of a job interview makes it hard to really express who you really are. Maybe that's not true for everyone, but let's assume for the sake of argument that you want to get out of the coffee shop (cause it's going well) and do something different.

So, when faced with the quickness of people to see "red flags" in any kind of strange behavior, where would you draw the line on "quirky" dates? Here are some examples:

Just riding the bus (saw this in a movie, and I'm talking about the city bus)
Going to one of those big toy stores, just to play (this worked great for me)
visiting a really old cemetery to do headstone rubbings (also a movie)
Going Trick or Treating (in February, also a really fun time)

Does anyone have any other suggestions of fun (but kind of strange) dates?

One girl confessed her feelings to me in a graveyard. She was dressed all goth-like and stuff.

...we dated for 7 months. One of my better relationships too. Granted it helped she and I were friends to begin with so I was used to her really quirky habits.

I dunno, I've always dated quirky girls. Granted I have one friend who's quirky enough that I just couldn't date her. She's about my age and still runs around like a little kid. Cute...but I don't think I can handle that.

women are stupid. stay away as much as you can. unless if they're willing to give it up, then by all means - take it.

I actually unknowingly did the bus around the city thing, when I was just chatting up a girl I met in class, and I caught the bus with her and went around town because we both missed out stops, but stopped caring until the bus driver kicked us off at the end of the line and we hopped on another bus back in the opposite direction. Was fun, took in some sights, and got to know her pretty well.

Quirkiest date was when a girl took me to a funeral to meet her family. Previously, the only family member of hers who had met me was her grandmother, who had just passed away, but apparently, grandma liked me, and that was the girl's reasoning for taking me (dragging me) to meet people at grandma's funeral. ("Grandma really liked Patrick, here Dad, shake his hand......" -awkward-)

I definitely draw the line at "funeral dates".

when she doesn't put out, that's a bit too quirky for me.

orgasms ease the pain... it's a natural thing, let's not judge.

Um, i was gonna ride on the double-decker buses in Victoria with that sex-crazed lady friend. She's 50, and I'm 49. :P

Since our minds are both in the gutter, and the top part of a double deckeer being semi-private in the rear, I am sure we won't be sight-seeing much.

Though, it'd be more fun to pretend to be old-fashioned and act shocked when she gropes me on the bus. ;)

I am 100 percent positive a sex-crazed 50 yr old woman is bonafide quirky.

But 49-yr old men like me are "just plain creepy".
