So "stay the course" is out. Hell, even complete victory is out. New revelations from Kissinger and Baker and Rumsfeld's resignation signal a significant change of policy in Iraq. What if Bush begins a phased withdrawal? How will this affect 2008? The Republicans can play it both ways. They can blame the Democrats for forcing the withdrawal and, at the same time, take this thorny issue out of the 2008 election. The Democrats can also play it both way by claiming that they helped end the war and that the Republicans are not so tough on terrorism after all.

Geez, I hope no one's shallow enough to only worry about how a withdrawal from Iraq will effect an election. :frown:

I hope no one is naive enough to think that a withdrawal from Iraq won't effect the election.

There you go again failing your catholic sensibilities.

You ought to give it up in favor of going born again evangelical and thereby being really wishy washy about war and violence.

How am I being wishy washy about war and violence? Who hasn't talked about the effect that the war had on the last election?

I can't decide.

Is it the good catholic in you? Or the one yearning to play hide-and-seek with water bottles in Iraq?
